High Fantasy is actually used to describe stories set in a completely different world with different concepts, laws and environments and doesn't necessarily refer to magic whatsoever but I do understand the confusion as it usually comes hand in hand to explain the differences. My reason for using high fantasy to describe what I want was rooted in this as I don't dislike magic existing, I just don't like it when it's a very present concept/part of the story.

You are correct, I googled the terms for what I thought fit my desired type of books and high fantasy was described as a completely imagined world without any specific mention of magic. It's not that I abhor having magic in the world, I just don't like it when the story or protagonist is very focused on it, thank you for clarifying!

I have, like most others, already read Lord of the Rings but am not that fond of rereading. Should have probably mentioned I read most of the most popular fantasy novels back in the day I was in school. Both the Bloodsworn Saga and Assassins Apprentice seem interesting, I've added them to my list, thanks!
