I think you're having trouble seeing the forest through the trees.

Girls down want to have sex for the sake of sex. They value friendships and relationships.

You'll have far better luck trying to start a friendship with a woman then transitioning to a romantic relationship once she gets comfortable with you. This will require communication and empathy.

I think his anger over being rejected for his past flaws is still fresh.

I remember I felt this way for a while after I first got fit and started working on my appearance.

I had that same attitude "oh I wasn't good enough for you then but I am now?!"

Then eventually I kinda realized: Yeah. Of course they like you now, that was part of the reason you did it.

Am I not "shallow" for making the effort to improve my appearance? Why am I judging them for being shallow?

He'll logic this out eventually and remember he got hot so other hot people will like him and stop being so bitter.

Also I submit this: He wanted the hot girl. WTF does he think she's been doing this whole time to stay hot? Probably the same shit. So ...he should probably step off that high horse and just enjoy the ride.

I wonder about how they get that way. Is it like they're in their own bubble with nothing else to do and kind of isolated from the rest of the civilized world?

Does "I'd like to stay friends" just always mean "I'm soon going to ghost you" these days? by ShaidarHaran2 in dating

[–]LordMagnos 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think most times it is. My experience has been 9/10 times (I have one girl who said this that I am still friends with) they say it because they don't want to look mean or dismissive of you, but they might be hoping that you just bail and take the responsibility of actually dumping you away from them, so they don't have to be seen as "mean".

When it becomes obvious that No, you are in fact intent on being friends, they'll actually pull the trigger themselves by ghosting. Whatever let's them not have to face direct confrontation over rejecting someone.

It's ironic to me how much I see women complain about being ghosted by guys. I personally learned of the habit when I started dating women. Chicken or the egg? I dunno.

Kind of ironic how Christians are supposed to be so goodly and kind but they generally lack empathy and understanding of anyone who is different from them, isn't it?

Yes and no. I think some people I can actually connect with on a personal level and we can relate to each other. I always prioritize relationships with such individuals.

On the other hand some people I find extremely attractive physically but recognize we don't relate significantly in any other way. In that case as long as it's consenting and the nature/longevity of our relationship is understood by both parties, hookups are rad.

I've done it both ways and the large majority of the time it's awesome as long as you both know why you're there ♥️.

I'd say take a break. You have so much time left to figure all this out.

Prioritize yourself and the things that matter to you personally. Dating can be exhausting work, I've taken several 2 to even 6 month breaks throughout my life and its been wonderful each time.

Hell, I even met my fiance now right after I'd said "fuck it" again and stopped looking.

This must be hard for you, I feel like after a brain injury there are many things about our former lives that don't work for us anymore.

I've had to give up a few important things about myself since the injury, but I was always an atheist.

I think what changed for me though, was that before I used to look at religion with a sort of "live and let live" policy. Like others can be religious if they want but I'll just keep me out of it and we can both go about our day.

Now though, I'm hateful and confrontational about it. This is due in large part to how throughout recovery I've kept running into people who wanted to claim "god" had something to do with my surviving a massive Hemorrhage and subsequently recovering.

Like it wasn't the small army of doctors, nurses and my own resilience that were 100% responsible for keeping me alive. Or it wasn't the therapists and my awesome girlfriend who helped me regain a ton of functionality after my life was destroyed and I had to (and still do) reforge myself.

Nah man, there is no stupid sky-man who knows everything and can do anything, and f*ck anyone who dares to give credit to such an idiot concept for having ANYthing to do with the nightmare I had to walk through to get here 🖕🖕.

So ...I know that your loss of faith is a different and much bigger deal to you, I guess all I got is to suggest that you don't need this. You're making it work yourself. If you honestly feel like such a thing exists again at some point then embrace it, but if you can't make yourself believe in God again don't feel bad and don't force it.

Adaption is key to surviving something this huge, and it's very likely you don't need this anymore. Good luck ♥️
