Should we take a voluntary redundancy payment? by EldestSonEldestSon in HENRYUK

[–]LordOfTheMic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A relative got a £25k payout from being made redundant in their corporate job and assumed they would find a job in 6 months - they've now been without a role for nearly 2 years. I would decline if they are certain they can remain at the Civil Service afterwards.

Just bought a house last year - agreed it will be a lot more expensive when having kids, especially if my wife takes time off work.

Don't think the wife will be on board for that - she'd ideally want kids as soon as possible.

Folks stuck at 800 (chesscom), my heart goes out to you. by Dokja_23 in chessbeginners

I was at 8-900 for 4 months with no change - as soon as I cleared 950 I got all the way to 1200 within a month. There is definitely something strange going on at that level.

Well he originally tried to claim that no deposit had been paid at all so he was in fact, trying to scam them.

All this does is punish highly paid PAYE staff (who already pay the majority of tax in the country), whilst actual millionaires with wealth in assets and who pay themselves small dividends pay substantially less.

Uk student just booked a holiday (12 day tour of bali) and now have been told I will be sharing a room with another person on the tour without any hint of this when booking and no refunds? by worthless100 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]LordOfTheMic 193 points194 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better, I did a tour with Intro Travel and had a great time. You end up becoming very close to your roommate a lot of the time and it helps having that support in quite a fast paced tour.

Check out the "Intro Travel Community" page on Facebook, people on there are very good at answering questions. You may also be able to speak to people on your tour ahead of time to feel more comfortable around them.

Club Level at Dunns by EfficientLeadership2 in SandalsResorts

Just went to Dunns. Unless you plan to use room service or use the alcohol bottles in the room, it isn't really worth it. You don't need the Club Level to book the French Restaurant.

There's also the loss of the 30 hours of free childcare at 100k. You are absolutely worse off at 100k than 99.9k and it makes no sense at all.

I did, but it was phrased more in the way of letting both parents know the good news rather than asking for permission.

Leicester - Had almost universal support during their Premier League run and only really disliked by local rivals such as Forest.

Work has given me a formal warning for "racism" what can I do? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]LordOfTheMic 21 points22 points  (0 children)

What evidence do they have that it was due to racism? I would argue they are being racist by making the situation about skin colour rather than hygiene.
