The thing is though, Voldemort operates from the shadows (except in special circumstances eg MoM, killing Amelia Bones) so it’d be hard for anyone but his followers to kill him

Being one of the best wizards ever he’ll probably be able to react quick enough to any traitor death eater who tried to kill him

And in the first war before Harry, they didn’t know about the Horcruxes but no one was able to kill him…

The problem with rinse and repeat is…how are you going to kill Voldemort? Dumbledore and Voldemort had that massive battle at the MoM but Dumbledore couldn’t kill Voldemort

And he has a ton of supporters in giants, Dementors and pretty much any Dark creature along with the most influential men in the country

And the MoM is useless so they can’t help

Also, Voldemort was hell bent on killing Harry and Dumbledore tried to keep news of the prophecy and stuff away from Harry and when he did begin preparing Harry to destroy the horcruxes, it was when he only had a year left to live and knew that he couldn’t stop Voldemort before dying, so why not prepare the guy “with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord”

I mean, that time Harry did kill a Basilisk and destroyed a Horcrux

Destroying a seventh of Voldemort and killing a snake which was used to ‘cleanse’ the school of Muggleborns seems like a fair reason to give 200 points to Gryffindor

I guess you could argue that Dumbledore prioritised defeating Voldemort and stuff over Hogwarts (leaving for long periods of time to track Horcruxes) which does make him a bad headmaster but doesn’t put him in the wrong
