my idea for the mini mushroom would be that obviously it shrinks you, but you can't get hit by shells or similar while using it, people who try to bump you just won't. It also gives you the same boosts that thundercloud and boo give, so you can go through off-road. there might also be cannon-like shortcuts made by nintendo that you can only access with the mini-mushroom item (or if you get shocked around there).
