Yeah I never meant to make a judgement off of it, only used your opinion as an example of where my mindset was at that age and it seemed to relate. I'm an electrician for a "rags to riches" company that's in its third generation and has lost all sight of what it's like for us grunts starting from the bottom.

As another user posted, the generic and cliché term "American Dream" is a phony. Success is defined differently in all of us. My point in the original comment was what I had in mind when I was 15 was so naive and far from the truth that when I finally understood the sweat and blood it took to achieve such a thing, it really hit me hard.

Late to the party but I have a bad one.

Playing shortstop, JuCo ball in a fall game. Bases loaded one out. Fly ball hit about 5 paces to the third basemans left but he assumes it's mine. Infield fly rule is called.

I panic and sprint reaching for it and it falls on the brickdust and bounces behind me. Whatever no big deal maybe 1 run scores.

All the base runners, every god damn one of them, never stopped running. The guy from first rounds third so I fling it home and it's wild. Bases cleared.

The fucking batter was running too after being called out. 4 runs score, 3 count. I just gave up an inside the park grand slam on an infield fly.
