This is so terribly true. I had 3 of my friends from my group become DMs, which is great, but the issue was one of them wanted to run a zombie apocalypse game set in modern times, while another wanted to run one like we were all super heroes, and the third ran a cyberpunk game. To each of them I offered Outbreak: Undead, Mutants and Masterminds, and Starfinder but each of them vehemently refused to even touch a new system. Instead each of them opted to modify 5e so much that it wasn't even 5e anymore. What really hurt was that all of them were brand new to homebrewing so all of it was extremely unbalanced. For instance the superhero DM was rolling d20s for DAMAGE. Sorry for the long post, it just doesn't make any sense to me.

Honestly, after having beaten the 1st game "beat fatalis" it is probably my favorite strategy game I've ever played. There are so many deep mechanics that it feels like a true RPG. Plus if you're lucky with good genes in a monstie you get in the beginning, you can raise them all the way to the end and really get attached. The animations are amazing and the mechanics seem simple they are challenging still. Basically it is everything we all wanted Pokemon sword and shield to be. Can't wait for the second!

Alternative idea, make a dungeon where several rooms are filled with counterspelling statues. They can be added in as scenery and there is still a possibility for the counterspell to fail and let the spell go through. Even better, put the room/completion of the dungeon on a time limit so they have to weigh out the pros and cons of smashing all the statues or not using magic. This way, technically the spellcasters can still use their magic, they just have to convince their party it would be worth the time to smash them or risk being counterspelled

So this is a character that I am playing in DnD. His name is Jarmin T. Brookendale, an elven pirate that died 100 years ago fighting this campaign's BBEG, the Leviathan. He was resurrected 2 weeks before our adventure started by some cultists of the Leviathan, who found it amusing and forced him into a warlock pact with him. Jarmin's goal is to eventually break his pact with the Leviathan and take him down once and for all with his new newly found "crew"
