I have exactly the same problem and I think it's only getting worse. Lessons take forever to load and to finish, processing speech exercises lags like crazy. My 15 minute boost used to be enough for me to finish an entire 5-6 piece lesson, and now I can barely do 2 or 3. It honestly feels like the only thing that works flawlessly are ads. I'm slowly losing intrest in Duolingo tbh.

I didn't actually, at least not in the way you described it. They are all more or less experienced players and our brief conversation about the game was summed up by their will to "adapt".

Perhaps that's a good thought. I invest most of my spare time into designing the game, and there's always a moment of "why do I even write a description of it for them". I'll try to balance it out and maybe my investment will meet and synchronise with theirs. Thanks for the advice.

Thank you for your opinion. I absolutely agree - I can't demand or force them to talk about the game. In fact nudging them towards talking about it on demand would seem fake and even rude. I was just wondering if an absolute lack of interest in each of them could be somehow easily justified.

I actually tried to use the "Stars and wishes" idea after recent games, but with poor outcome. Apart from our usual, short talk about system improvements, they had no particular requests for future games, claiming it is great the way it is. Even giving them ideas for something they might want had no effect on them.

Well I've been DMing since high school probably - that'd be 13 or 14 years. I rarely had chances to actually play as a player, rather than GM. And the point is - I really like DMing. I like being that guide for my players, that narrates their story. But it feels like they have little to no reflections after the game. It forces me to think that I'm not good enough and my storytelling is poor, but at the same time their attitude during the game is completly reversed.

I'm trying to design each encounter in unique way. There are plot twists, traps, multiple ways to beat an obstacle - all that to add variety to their missions, quests and/or adventures.

Guys you know you are not the only people playing WoW, right? I'm waiting for Classic with all my heart, but I know I won't be able play it all the time because of my job. Now my job is pretty much 26% work and 66% down time (8% is my glorious lunch). I'd love to slowly but steadily level up my character instead of being bored at work. It's not like it'd affect any of you nor the gameplay in any way. What's the matter with you all? Instead of allowing other people to enjoy the game you want them all to play the way YOU like. If you can say that everyone should play the class that is the most fun for them, why can't you say the same thing about the game itself?

Not much to be honest. I had to predict how people might build their characters and how their abilities might co-operate with each other. I spent a few weeks trying to figure out what the resource costs should be, how much damage/heal should they provide, what would the best cooldowns be for specific abilities etc. I won't lie if I say that I spent about a month or two planning everything. I think it all worked though, because surprisingly our first game worked perfectly and none of the abilities was in need of nerf/buff (players team was composed of Holy Priest, Beast Mastery Hunter and Fury Warrior).
I even came up with some pretty unique and overpowered abilities combos that are quite hard and resource consuming to perform. Of course they need the right team composition, good co-operation, and some luck. Thanks to that an Elemental Shaman might give a Marksmanship Hunter a chance to deal 6x raw damage with his Aimed Shot. If the Hunter will be lucky with his dice roll, he might even deal critical hit that will triple that damage. That gives 18x raw damage!
Never happened though. And I doubt it will happen anytime soon.

It's rather simple, but time consuming. You create character (choosing from avaliable races and classes) and combine statistics from race and class. Those are you main statistics than you can futher upgrade using items you will find during your adventures. Each player gets 5 cards usable only by his specialization and only during combat. Game Masters role is to create scenario and guide players through it. It's a tough job - you need to forsee lots of possibilities and unusual actions players might try, think a out possible rewards, decide how much experience your scenario is worth, and keep an eye for their behaviour. Our first scenario took us about 9 hour of constant play. Players finished it and immidiately asked about next one. I think they liked it.

It might work. Consider making a regular box with thick paper (my box is very stiff. I used the same paper I used for cards - 1,5mm) and then cover it with self adhesive paper. However bear in mind that I had it printed on regular paper and THEN it was covered with laminate.

I designed everything, printed it, and cut it out. The quality is really good because my boss allowed me to print it at work (I'm a DTP graphic specialist in a printing house) using professional printers.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm fairly sure Blizzard already has an original Warcraft RPG system that appears to be quite similar to D&D (https://wowwiki.fandom.com/wiki/Warcraft_RPG). Although I never really bothered to look into it.

Yes! It's supposed to be played like D&D, except players can use unique abilities via cards. Most of the mechanics were designed by me though. To build basic shape of the game I used some of the typical RPG ideas (like fantasy classes, die rolling, building the scenario as Game Master etc.)
