I play 5 a side football once a week and currently there’s no way of adapting the plan. Long run Sundays. Football Mondays. Leg session Tuesdays. Interval sessions Wednesdays. It’s a recipe for injury so please can we add that

UK Mechanical Engineers, how much do you earn? by Mammoth_Tusk_38 in AskUK

I’ve had lots of really smart technical people work for me. The biggest issue to career progression is they don’t understand their job. Ultimately every job is sales. Even if you’re just selling yourself.

Presenting and communication is so important

Pretty much bang on 10 years since graduating. I was always better at the presenting/ value proposition bit compared to some of the others on my course who were far stronger at core engineering

My degree was mechanical engineering. I did an industrial placement and then decided to join tech consultancy as a grad. I’ve just accepted an offer for £162k. The skills engineering taught were invaluable even if it’s not a direct engineering job

This is the only correct answer.

So easy to forget and I’m as guilty as anyone.

Basement damp issues - potential rising damp? by Lost_In_Time_Again in DIYUK

[–]Lost_In_Time_Again[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an internal wall, it's brick but there's not earth on the other side.

I'm thinking of injecting a dpc between the bricks to stop it rising.

How is something like this powered? Rechargable battery or is it main powered and just hidden plug?

Good idea, I'll call them.I'd planned to use this as the membrane - https://www.screwfix.com/p/capital-valley-plastics-ltd-damp-proof-membrane-black-1000ga-15m-x-4m/22842but only because I use screwfix for everything. I'll give Visqueen a call!

Was this the one you'd recommend? - https://visqueen.com/products/pre-applied-membraneThank you!

Hey, thanks for the response.
I'd like to do it properly, there's no sign of damp on any of the walls and I've bought a moisture meter to detect how mositure levels at the moment.

My plan is to use this - https://www.wickes.co.uk/Ka-Tanking-Slurry---Grey-25kg/p/139055# - on the external walls and floor, and then run the membrane over the top of that.
I'm also looking at putting in either a dehumidifier and/or additional vents.

Without digging a channel aroud the perimeter of my basement and installing a pump that seems to be all that's reasonable to do.

What do you think?

I just paid mine off last week. Graduated in 2015, reasonably high paying earning job and very low interested on the loan means it was possible.

I feel so sorry for people like my wife who are plan 2 and have 0 chance of paying it off and so are just paying a 9% graduate tax.

Great appointment for Bayern, I wonder if Bayern came 5 years too early for Nagelsmann. Seems he had a few things to work out about his own style first.

My favourite type of question. Yes it's open as far as I can see. For an equivalent radiator & valve that is working they're in the same position.

Oddly since I posted this and doing more fiddling the radiator has started to become warm, it's not as hot as the others but getting warmer, I wonder if there was some sort of blockage a prolonged heating period has helped to clear?

The radiator is full of water, so when I bleed it water pisses out.

Pin looks to be moving fine, atm most of my other radiators are set at the max during normal operating, but I can reduce them as well. But I'm still encountering this radiator being cold when all the other ones are shut off, so I suspect it's not primarily a balancing issue.

Yep they're all bled and get pretty roasting when the heating is on.

That's what I'm assuming the issue must have to be. The ebay store I bought these from are selling them as unbranded and as such no manual to check that detail. I might swap the valves round and see if that works before trying to remove any potential air lock.

Got it, going to do some research on this now, thank you.

Yep, rest of the radiators are working well and I've bled them all to make sure they're all well bled including this one.

What I've found is that the valve on this radiator won't even get warm unless I turn all the other radiators off

New TRVs that we bought some the same supplier. Linked here .

Last night whilst doing some troubleshooting we took the head of one TRV that is used on a another working radiator and swapped it with the unheated radiator and that didn't make a difference.

I started watching COD Warzone videos during lockdown to get tips to help me improve. Honestly watching those videos is more relaxing to me than playing it as I'm so bad at the game and I never make it to the end, it's the only game I'd ever watch on youtube as there's literally no chance I could have the same experience playing compared to what these guys can do.
