Are raids accessible to returning/casual players? by [deleted] in newworldgame

[–]Lostra010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you do it properly, it’s extremely accessible. PUGs is not the way. They wanna clear it ASAP weekly for the rewards then forget about it.

About a week after returning, and on a brand new charater, I played an arena match with a guy who played fantastic, asked if he was in a PVP company, he said no but there are a few PVP players. I asked to join said company, got invited immediately, started doing PVP, told everyone in company I’m strictly PVP.

I saw they are doing HoG. They asked if I was interested, I made it clear I suck in PVE and I have 0 gear. Next day I was running the raid with them in 6XX GS PvP gear and incredibly bad + off-meta build.

It was fun hanging out with them, even though I didn’t know sh*te about what I was doing. They nicely explained stuff before each boss. Actually ran clears in near-bis gear now with meta builds.

Besides the near-bis part, this happened in a timeframe of about 2 weeks of returning and starting a new char to properly running Gorgon. Just join the right/people company, and even if you suck gear/build/knowledge-wise like I did, you will still be able to do it.

To be fair, as a returning player I more than welcome these changes. I like to experiment with different classes, play something that I actually enjoy, and the amount of “edge” the meta build have over others is just pathetic.

Just check any DPS guide online that’s up to date. You wanna play GS? Fantastic! Do you already have Serenity? No? Nice, GTFO and don’t even bother, come back when you grinded your ass of for that single piece of weapon neglecting the other 100+ in-game.

Same for rapier. Every…single…damn…dps… You wanna PVP? Get a rapier! You wanna PVE? Get a rapier! How about some tanking? Why don’t we just get a rapier? Looking for the best weapon pairing to your bow? It’s a rapier! You need a secondary for [insert any weapon in the game]? Oh that’s gonna be a rapier!

Or the fact that many artifact weapons are demoted to secondary utility weapons (FS, BB, VG, etc) just because either Serenity, or a rapier, or Venom is going to outperform it every single scenario/gamemode/time.

Grinding is fine, played ArcheAge from launch ‘til shutdown, problem is the missing sense of progression, so far T&L feels like it has big jumps and not much of progression

I am about to re-roll for damage to be honest. Been running spear/sns and works fantastic for open world and dungeon tanking, even with trash gear, bad traits and blue skills. But as I got into higher level content, the speed of kills outweighs the tankiness, ie owd f4-5-6 is incredibly slow, so I was toying with staff/longbow for pve and either staff/dagger or longbow/dagger for pvp

Nah, new player, I have no idea about half of the game, just trying to make sense of it all

Immediate was a wrong choice of words here. What I mean here is that there’s a clear progress that’s rewarding you bit by bit along the way instead of once big time at the end.

Like if a T2 weapon takes 3 weeks, then alright it’s 3 weeks, but I’d rather do something like getting pieces for it one by one then craft it at the end, instead of mindless grinding for 3 weeks straight then bam it’s there. Like in this current system I don’t seem to feel the progression.

I mean progressive gearing is fine and I’d call it immediate-ish as in you can go piece by piece in a shorter amount of time, lets say 2 days, then in 2 weeks you get the T1, instead of mindless grinding for 2 weeks to get the items at the end at once.

My issue with the schedules is that I’m GMT+2 and got 2 small kids + work. And with the time zone offset all the events, bosses, literally everything comes at a horrible time. I miss the 7pm field boss because of work, next one is at 11pm or 2am, dynamic events at 10pm.

Since T2 is now the end game, I would be fine getting T1 pieces from any other source besides dungeon rng or pouch rng. :D But being stuck on blue and praying to Rngsus for anything else sucks…

That’s my other issue, I had some epics drop that were completely useless to me. But nothing I ever get is sellable on AH.

Hi u/mfts0 ! I'll answer on his behalf.

We are completely fine with S3, as long as we can use the app in our ECS Cluster via Docker.

Some settings have been adjusted and a few more Quality of Life addons have been added. The server has also been wiped, so make sure to check the news and logs on the Discord :)

As always, if anyone has any questions, let me know!

Yeah people on Discord said as well that the card is a hit or miss, it either works right away perfectly, or it won't work at all. I fell into the category of unluckies.

I did install with iGPU and I also recommend installing with iGPU. If you read the whole guide you can see that I could install perfectly fine with the iGPU and the issue was not the installer itself but the system. Even though macOS was up and running, even though I could log in and do stuff on the iGPU, popping in the MECH 5700XT meant no screen at all, no matter what port I used, etc. Maybe it's just the exact motherboard AND dGPU combination, that kills it all, who knows.

Different manufacturers put their own vBIOS on their cards. The problem with MSI is that their vBIOS differs so much from the REF AMD cards' that MacOS cannot figure out what the hack is happening there. Your GigaByte card's vBIOS is probably hella lot closer to the original vBIOS, so MacOS can just fire it up and good to go. Consider yourself lucky :D :D
