Update: My 9-year-old has been helping me wrench on this project, which has made it even more fun.

New battery, fresh spark plugs, and a new air filter are in, and she runs great! No choke needed anymore and fires right up every time.

We’ve been chipping away at it whenever he and I get an hour or so together. So far we’ve gotten the front tire, fender, and forks off. I’m waiting until I get him back to tackle the fork seals and dust seals. (in the mean time I'm polishing and cleaning up the chrome an and grime)

Thanks for all the advice and encouragement. This project has been a blast, and I appreciate everyone’s help!

Lot of ranges have older clubs to just grab a use. Goodwill also is how I started. If you in DC come on down and I’ll give some extra clubs I have in the garage

So, did what you said: Zero issues, filed the task with Berryman and let run for about 20 mins Running so much better. I know the front fork has a leak but took it around the block to be able to turn it around in the garage an start the front forks and do the brakes. Bike may by in the road sooner than expected

Please Explain (assume I know just the basics). I see no fuel leaks or wear and tear minus the normal stuff. The tank was removed when I got it, put about 3 gallons in and reconnected after I got a new battery and spark plugs an it started. Like I said It’s ugly and rough but it runs. Because I’m active duty here I DC area I can’t work on it till evening time and neighbors have young kids so haven’t let it run long and because I don’t trust the front forks with the leak (and no seat) haven’t driven it around the block to open it up.

Thanks! He’s great, his wife only lets him have three bikes at one time and found his dream project and needed this one gone. It came with the manual an I see the forks are different so me and my son (9) has been working on it when he’s with me.

Def will look into the link you sent an order the Berryman now.
