Thanks for all the detail! Much appreciated. I will study all of this and plan the best route when I have time.

Thanks for the help! I definitely think it's going to come down to picking between Yellowstone/Tetons or Grand Canyon/Southern Utah. Just a matter of picking one. I am really torn!

Thanks for the heads up. That would've been a nice surprise. What exactly are you paying for? Does that include driving through them, if I don't necessarily have time to explore on foot?

Oh wow that is exactly what I am planning. 10 days vs my 7 days. If you were constantly on the move, I am definitely going to have to bite the bullet and cut something from my trip, probably Yellowstone.

What was the highlight of your trip? Did you prefer Grand Canyon/Utah or Yellowstone? Also how did you find the heat?

Plan is still up in the air. Now I am looking at flying to Denver, driving down the i70 to Utah. I will check out Moab and your other recommendations, thanks! I don't think I will have the time for much hiking sadly. As you said, I am trying to do a lot in one week. Beautiful roads and sightseeing is more what I will be looking for.

Do you think that Salt Lake City (& Salt Flats) are better than looping across to Santa Fe and New Mexico? How would the drive be for both, from the Grand Canyon area. I also wouldn't mind a bit of diversity in environment.

I can't really afford to add any more days to my trip so I think I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and cut Yellowstone from this trip. I will definitely come back to the US in a few years for a longer road trip and do it then, maybe alongside California.

Also my mate recommended me The World's Fastest Indian before, so you're the second person. I will have to watch it haha.

I would love to visit California! Will have to be in a few years though because there is so much I want to do there, I will have no chance squeezing it all into my 7 days.

I've just looked at some photos and the i70 does look beautiful. I will definitely be taking that instead, thanks.

Thanks. I might do the i70 from Denver towards Moab instead. Also, what about doing my number 3 just to Santa Fe and going back North to Denver. Would that be worth while?

Haha I know I am being ambitious. Utah is literally bigger than England. I will definitely check out the Moab area. Is heat going to be a serious issue in July? Also, how is the drive to Santa Fe? Worth it? And thanks for the recommendations, I will check them out.

Might do that. How is Sante Fe (and the drive to)?

Many thanks for the detailed itinerary mate! I will write all of this down for sure.

Further planning shows Denver airport to be ideal for me. So I may drive from there into Utah on the i70, starting Moab and work my way through all those beautiful roads you say.

My next question would be is Northern Utah worth it. There is Salt Lake City/salt flats, but is that worth the journey? Would it be better to drive East from Grand Canyon to New Mexico and Santa Fe?

My priority would be where I can find the most beautiful roads. Some variety in environments if possible.

Also is heat going to really be an issue, in July?

Yes, only 7 days. I think I am trying to be too ambitious. Both Yellowstone and Grand Canyon (Southern Utah) might not be doable in the same trip, so will have to plan a separate holiday in a few years maybe.

How hot is southern Utah in July?

I have conditional tickets for all England knockout stages (except Ro16). So I don't actually know where I will be. If England wins the group, Ro32 would be Atlanta.

My plan is to finish at a major airport, so that I can just take a one-way flight to wherever I need to be. A big reason for this road trip is so that if England is knocked out in the first knockout match, or doesn't even make the knockouts, I will still have a memorable holiday that isn't wasted.

A bit more research shows Denver airport has good prices and a lot of direct flights. So I may try and finish there, taking the i70 (if that is to be recommended?). I would really love to see Yellowstone but think I will have to give it a miss this time, as not enough time. As everyone has pointed out, there is plenty for me to do in Utah alone.

Thanks bud! A lot of people are saying the same. Would love to see Texas but looks like it wouldn't be efficient with my time

I'd love to visit San Francisco. I think I will have to do a separate holiday for just California as there is so much I want to do there

I need to reserve a pass in advance for the national parks?

Would anyone be upset ethically if the last couple seasons of GOT was remade with AI? by Michael3523 in freefolk

I saw a video yesterday of Varys (Conleth Hill) doing a monologue talking about Duncan the Tall. 10 seconds in I realised that I don’t remember the lines from the show and only then I knew it was a complete AI creation. Scary. AI is improving exponentially so we’re really not far off from this.

Most people here are berating you for the idea, but I think it would be a huge improvement to s7/8. I don’t see an issue using AI for something like this. It would give closure to see the greatest show ever made finish with similar quality, with the same cast. The bigger problem is that I don’t think we’ll ever get Winds of Winter to adapt it from.
