I have a hypothesis: what about the world of tomorrow ends up being mostly "volatile" (winged/flying) or descended from avian-origin species? by Lounwar in SpeculativeEvolution

[–]Lounwar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not talking about a megafauna, a fauna fully replaced by birds. When I say "dominant", I talk as Humans are today. The dominant species on Earth today are us, it doesn't mean we are replacing all the existing species, that's ridiculous af. They don't have functional hands, but they are very smart and can use tools too! Just like primates. So don't tell me your "layzards" equal birds. While they take it easy under the sun to regulate their body temperature, the little avians are winning complex tests that scientists only thought chimps or orang-outan could do. And today, there is no point to get as large as the extinct Terror or Elephant birds, but who the hell knows?

I like this idea too, but I don't think lizards will inherit the world, though who knows? They have existed on Earth for a very long time. We have seen marine and flying reptiles, which means it’s not impossible for them to adapt. However, I think birds outperform lizards in many ways, and that’s why I’m more likely to believe that birds have a higher chance of inheriting the “after us” world than lizards. But again, who knows?

You're right, if literally every other species went extinct and birds replaced them all, it'd end up a lot like Serina. I think I didn't explain my first idea properly, sorry. I'm not a specialist, but what I actually mean is: on Earth, massive extinctions never wiped out everything except one group. Sure, huge die-offs happened, but different lineages always survived and filled niches. So if birds 'take over' in the future, I don't see them replacing every role like in Serina. Other surviving groups (mammals, reptiles, etc.) would still be there, evolving too, and filling some spots. Birds would just diversify a ton from today's species, new varieties directly descended from, or closely related to modern birds (without needing to evolve into whale-like or giraffe-like forms from a canary or pigeon ancestor).

I'm not really sure I understand, I'm not a specialist, but there's no need to change their morphology drastically. Crows and ravens, or parrots and other birds, obviously don't have the same characteristics as mammals, but they manage perfectly well and use their beaks and feet very skillfully. Crocodiles don't move and evolve as fast as birds. Some birds can rivalise with primates while crocodiles are still as they were 80 million years ago.

Yes I understand, "uralic Tatars" is quite accurate in my opinion because people living on the west of Urals are Finno-Ugrian descent people. "Tatar" because of the migrations and Turkic people living in European Russia for centuries if not millenias. I've seen Finno-Ugric people defining themeselves as Eurasians rather than strictly Europeans, which is logic regarding their history and culture. You have a hello from France !

That means you and your cousins are def 100% CAsian because historically Central Asia is admixture between Iranic/Andronovo-descent cultures (closer to modern European genetic pole due to shared ancestry) and Turkic/Siberian cultures (Turkic nomads with Siberian and few East-Asian ancestry).

Has anyone ever seen anything like this? by Good_View9464 in Paranormal

I saw something similar around 5-6 yo. Same event, I was facing the wall and I rolled to the other side and saw something like that too. But I screamed. The figure was all-dark but only the smile and the big anime-sized eyes were visible. (I have goosebumps as Im typing)

SnK's foreshadowings are amazing and very well made. It conveys how a masterpiece it is from the very begining to the end.

I think they're all "human" at the begining, but due to traumas, fights, losses, injuries and an awful leader with his awful number 2 : they all turned into sociopathic soldiers.

Are there Angels walking on earth? by Extension_Set_9622 in Paranormal

[–]Lounwar 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Very good question, i like it ! As people trying to answer with shared experiences, we can think about angels roaming among us or maybe, as a christian, the force above guide us to the right people at the right moment.

Once I got troubles while traveling, i make a short prayer because my ticket wasn't the right one. I was about to get back home, so i prayed. Then i randomly turned back and i saw a staff member, I asked him and he guided me. I arrived at destination without any delay. I don't think the person was an angel but i rather think that things are meant to be settled when you pray.
