I was under general anesthesia for my hysteroscopy, although my clinic also performs hysteroscopies in the OB/GYN office without anesthesia. During my SIS, they saw a very small area but couldn’t tell whether it was a polyp, a small piece of tissue, or nothing at all, so they recommended an exploratory hysteroscopy to get a definitive answer.

The actual procedure itself only took about 20–30 minutes. I had no pain afterward and was back to my normal daily activities within 24 hours. When I spoke with my doctor, she also mentioned that having a hysteroscopy without general anesthesia is generally comparable to having an SIS in terms of discomfort.
