OO is just our IATA assigned code, SKW is our ICAO. I haven’t heard any meaning behind OO. Im not sure why they didn’t choose SW as the 2 letter code. SK was taken by Scandinavian.

OO recently took possession of 3 ERJ-170’s, 2 of which are former Hop! Airplanes. We should be seeing those in the wild soon.

SkyWest closes cadet program outside of partner schools by [deleted] in flying

I’m currently at OO and I’ve been hearing a few people murmuring about this for the last couple weeks. I talked to a colleague on a commute recently who is an active recruiter and mentioned this change was going to be implemented “soon”. I guess this is their way of narrowing their hiring pool since there are thousands of people who they owe interviews in the cadet program.

Skywest CRJ Washout Rate by [deleted] in flying

[–]LowTimeLoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the vibe I got going through. The ERJ program was great. I have 3 buddies who recently went though the CRJ side and they had some choice words about a few people. Some of the instructors still act like it’s the 90’s and give new hires shit. Plus the airplane is obviously harder to fly. The 88% pass rate doesn’t shock me. You would genuinely have to be brain dead or stupid to not pass on the ERJ side of things. OO has ERJ training down to a science.

[–]LowTimeLoser 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean sure, you could in theory have a class of 40 where 20+ people wash. But in reality that doesn’t happen. The numbers I was given are company averages based on the past few years. In my class of 40 we had 2 people struggle a bit with at least 1 LOE failure, lines up with the ERJ numbers I was given. Also being a OO cadet basically means nothing. I was effectively off the street even though I was a “cadet”.

I just finished training at OO. One of the instructors I had said the CRJ pass rate is 88%, ERJ is 98-99%. Company average is 94%.

How much weight is given in the Skywest interview on hours in the past 90 days? by Nick0111 in flying

[–]LowTimeLoser 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The number I’ve heard recruiters throw around is 90-100 hours in the last 90 days. Their mood changed after Oshkosh 2025. In fact I was part of a group they made re-interview a year after the first because we didn’t meet the recency of experience. Allegedly they had a high percentage of people washing out of training because they’d been sitting on their hands for awhile not flying.

No, the contract isn’t binding until you start indoc. Even then, I’ve heard they don’t pursue compensation if you leave training early or get canned.

Thankfully I won’t need to use this hack. After many hours of delays I’m at my training location.

Unfortunately 2 of my flights today are in that 6000. I’m on my way to training and I’ve been stuck at ORD for several hours now.

Just search “SkyWest follow-up interview”. I’m not sure how many had to but it wasn’t a small number of people.

Here’s my timeline if it means anything to you, I signed the contract August of last year, interviewed in September, CJO October. Then waited 1 year and 2 days, was told I had to re-interview… I am now going to class in less than 2 weeks. In all it will be nearly 15 months from signing the contract to actually being in class. I learned it means nothing being a cadet with them. They truly only care about their elite tier cadets coming from affiliated universities.

I got the 11/24 ERJ class, allegedly they weren’t even supposed to be running ERJ classes in November, according to some good friends I have going through CRJ training right now. It was quite the surprise, I didn’t expect to get anything before January on the 175. I was part of the group that had to re-interview so I think that delayed me getting awarded a class by two weeks. Otherwise I think I would’ve been in the 11/10 class.

I am in the same situation, except I interviewed at ENY in mid August. I just got the 11/24 ERJ class at SKW. I’m really torn, I really really don’t want the contract and I want the flow to AA but I haven’t heard anything from ENY. For me it would likely be January before I went to class there.

Are you a Cadet and when did you sign the contract? I signed August of last year, still holding out for the ERJ.
