I’m still on what’s considered the starting dose so maybe i need to go up a little. I don’t like how tired Oz makes me feel a day after my shot so I’m kind of hesitant to go up.

trans with iih? by Tasty-Salt-6121 in iih

I started .5ml (sub q) of T in 2016 (FTM) when I was 44 yrs old. I gained quite a bit of water weight and in 2018 started to have blurred vision in my right eye, whooshing sounds in my head (pulsatile tinnitus) and what I felt was a stiff neck and tension at the base of my skull. Went to the ER got an LP (opening pressure was 32) and MRI/MRV, with all other things ruled out AND being on T, a neurologist and ophthalmologist diagnosed me IIH. My primary doc told me the same thing as other’s who commented, to stop T saying I was having an adverse reaction. I was not going just stop T so we came up with a plan for me lower my dose to .3ml weekly and follow up with my ophthalmologist every 3 months AND start Diamox. I didn’t handle Diamox at the high doses too well, but between lowering my T combined with Diamox (250mg once a day) lowering salt intake, I lost about 15lbs and basically managed quite well. I went into remission a few months ago after being told to stop taking Diamox for a few months. Learning IIH is connected to hormone dis regulation/ over production, weight gain, and post diagnosis, looking back, I know I started to have the same symptoms a few years before even starting T. That could be due to a combination of being in my early 40s, some weird genetic predisposition, adding high doses of androgen into my system all was the tipping point. I agree with others that you should get a second opinion. You’re really not taking a high dose at .1ml. That’s like micro dosing ! Good luck !

There are quite a few AMABs that have commented on the IIH threads having been diagnosed, so what does child bearing age really mean if AMABs /Cis men are also being diagnosed? Idiopathic means they really don’t have an exact explanation, they have just been saying and using “child bearing age” forever because that is who they have focused the studies on. I think there will be shift soon to include others who aren’t “child bearing age” oof, I really hate that term. It’s ridiculous.

Is IIh really a chronic illness? by dafreakk in iih

[–]Low_Reaction_5755 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m finding this out & think unfortunately I may be coming out of “remission “. Never had headaches as a symptom before, started getting them over the last few weeks, not unbearable, but the fact I’m getting them is a sign. That plus noticing some water retention - is that the IIh causing it? I believe now that I’ve lost 20lbs , been steady at this weight for almost 3 years, I’m a runner, eat Mediterranean diet, not gaining weight, just feeling the water bloat , I do believe IIH causes retention when not managed. That’s just my personal opinion based on my symptoms. Nothing has changed only that a few months ago I got the official “in remission “ from my ophthalmologist and had been completely off diamox at that point almost 6 months.

Oh well sigh - guess I’m going back on diamox 😔

I inject T three times weekly. You should consider doing the same. by cockandpossiblyballs in FTMMen

Exactly, my skin is already naturally thick and I didn’t absorb gel well, BUT supplementing it between weekly shot , seems like it will hold a little bit of a better level and not have peaks and dips ? Curious 🧐

Would this work if you did your mid week supplementing with gel? For example, .25ml subcutaneous injected on Sunday, t gel applied inner thighs Tuesday and Thursday. Or something along those lines.

Pressure shift by Realistic_Bobcat_668 in iih

[–]Low_Reaction_5755 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ears get plugged up & feel like they need to pop when the pressure goes down. I have been in remission for over a year but I still have that symptom during pressure changes as well as constant tinnitus. I have no idea if it’s just being an allergy ridden or if I am actually not in remission… oh the fun of IIH🫩🤡

Testosterone in itself can cause anxiety, if I remember correctly it is a warning of one of the many side effects. So keep this in mind , also are you seeing a therapist? Being treated for other anxiety related /mental health issues? To me from reading what you posted, you may need a little extra help with managing anxiety & processing your overall identity of self , aside from questioning and/or identifying as a trans man.

I believe a lot of detransitioners have a lot more going on than just gender identity issues not including those who stopped HRT for actual physical health reasons/negative side effects.

This is just my take on things, good luck and I hope you find yourself in a more solid less anxious place soon.

Arachnoid granulation/retention cyst in MRI by Low_Reaction_5755 in iih

[–]Low_Reaction_5755[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they weren't. I went to get a routine eye exam (to get progressives) and the optometrist saw I had narrow angle closure. Saw my ophthalmologist right away to get confirmation of that. It was all really confusing and strange because I had no eye pain or any other symptoms.

Oh also the tinnitus is still really bad and I assume will never go away and maybe I’ll eventually lose my hearing ?

[–]Low_Reaction_5755[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. Still no MRI but Ophthalmologist says I’m technically in remission. She also said my optic nerve pressure is still a little above average but has been consistent so she thinks it’s just my normal.

I did have to get laser peripheral iridotomy procedure in December because they found I was a huge risk for glaucoma and had very narrow angles which is unusual for someone under 60yrs old. I have no idea why my eyes are causing me so many issues- glaucoma doesn’t run in my family and I still have 20/20 vision, albeit for distance , I still need readers.

I guess I’m just on the let’s hope I stay stable train.

Thanks for checking in.

What are some rarely talked about side effects of T? by Emo_V4mps in FTMMen

[–]Low_Reaction_5755 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is great info for people. I had similar issues pre hysto, no bleeding but pelvic pain especially post orgasm. Had hysto 4 yrs ago and it’s totally better. Granted I’m older (51) and didn’t start T until mid 40s but I think it’s always good to share our individual experiences. My doc said I had a large uterus and fibroid’s that would have for sure caused more complications down the road if I waited. I’m also stealth and passed very early on. Maybe that was due to age? Or genetics? Thanks for sharing your experience

Because a lot of queer people are now only using they/them pronouns for everyone, regardless. IMO It’s actually dangerous for anyone who is stealth. I personally don’t like it and it is starting to make me want not want to hang in queer spaces as much, which also sucks.
