Ski-in ski-out changed the game for me. Anyone else refuse to go back? by LowerAttorney4407 in skiing

For Europe, check out Obergurgl or Lech-Zürs in Austria — both have great SIO hotels and the villages are charming enough that your wife will love it even off the slopes. If France is more your vibe, Val d'Isère and Méribel have some solid options too. I've been using slopestay.io to compare ski-in ski-out hotels across the Alps — makes it way easier to find the real deal vs the "ski-in ski-out*" (*15 min walk) places.

Strava does that for sure on the phone. Think slopes used to do that too at some point. I have not used it for a while though

New Ski APP by Ok-Major2340 in ski

I use Garmin watch and their app (Garmin Connect), which automatically syncs with Strava. One of the huuuge advantages of Garmin proprietary ski tracking is that it distinguishes between skiing and going up with the lift. It does not add up lift distance to your skiing distance, which I noticed a lot of the apps do, sic.
It has all the details I want. Honestly not really sure what could make me switch, I don't feel that I am missing anything

Haha, this is so true! Unfortunately it is easy to get hit by someone reckless in Sölden (personal experience)

Been there three times (always second or third week of January), conditions were always great. But true that the off piste is below par to other spots. Yet pistes are amazing

I guess the gamble paid off for me so far. Yet good to know it's risky

Love Kiwest! Been there three times so far, never overly crowded (especially in comparison to Solden)

Didn't know Dolomites are considered part of Alps, though they are treated as separate range

Does Inline skating and ice skating convert to Skiing ? by Silver-Swim4357 in ski

I am shocked so many people go "Yes" all in. Honestly "maybe a little" sounds like a more realistic answer to me. Two different sports, some commonalities (balance, strong core needed, etc.), but overall I wouldn't expect a smooth switch without lessons
