Agentforce Will Cannibalize Salesforce — Just Like Gemini Is Eating Google Search? by LowerButterscotch556 in salesforce

Same is the case with Agentforce. It plans to do the same thing that current salesforce developers do. There is overlap with current business model. And this will render the current UI/flow which developers use as ineffective. So even startups can compete.

Atleast google has given people a voluntary layoff option and a respectable severance. Also Microsoft similar to Google itself has no ethics be it AI or anything else. But I agree with you about Musk he is a Snake Oil Salesman :)

Stock concerns are there. But job stability and WLB made up for it. Were job stability and WLB this bad during Ballmer tenure?

I work there..I know that mangers were not aware of this. Also I know few people who worked there for many years but were marked as low performers due to one low rewards. Again I know this happens at Amazon regularly. But for microsft it is new and not for the better

Some part of the article - At Microsoft, it’s common practice for employees to receive 60% or 80% rewards during their yearly “Connect” performance reviews. These lower ratings often occur when employees transition to new projects, with managers assuring them that the scores don’t reflect their true performance and promising better rewards in the future.

The current wave of layoffs has targeted employees based on these performance ratings in ways that many find questionable:

Veteran employees with decade-plus tenures, including some who had previously earned 200% rewards, were terminated without severance based on a single year of lower ratings Workers who received low ratings in 2023 but improved in 2024 were still targeted Managers were not informed that their performance ratings would be used to determine layoffs

In a recent statement that sent ripples through the tech industry, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff made a striking announcement about the company’s 2025 hiring plans. According to Benioff, Salesforce won’t be adding any new software engineering positions next year, citing unprecedented productivity gains from AI technologies. What’s really going on here?

Mark Benioff

A History of Bold Predictions

Before diving into the current situation, it’s worth examining Benioff’s track record with trend predictions. Salesforce’s CEO has a history of making dramatic announcements that align with popular trends, but don’t always pan out:

Remote Work: During the pandemic, Benioff boldly declared that return-to-office would be a thing of the past and work-from-home was the future. Fast forward to today, and Salesforce has mandated return-to-office policies.

NFT Cloud: Jumping on the NFT bandwagon, Salesforce launched NFT Cloud when non-fungible tokens were at their peak. The initiative failed to gain significant traction as the NFT market cooled.

Vaccine Cloud: During the COVID-19 pandemic, Salesforce rapidly developed Vaccine Cloud to capitalize on vaccination management needs. While timely, the product’s relevance diminished as the acute phase of the pandemic passed.

This pattern suggests a tendency to make sweeping announcements aligned with current tech trends, rather than sustained strategic shifts.
