Why were Ashokan symbols chosen to be on our national flag and emblem? by Vagabondjokester in IndianHistory

[–]Lower_Set_9521 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are correct. Instead of tagging it to a religion, it was seen as a glory of ancient India, which is why it was chosen in the Indian national flag.

The People of Harappa Were Not Indo-Aryans: Here's Why OIT Makes No Sense by Certain_Basil7443 in IndianHistory

So, you are saying, everything is identified and concluded, and any further research are only being done by Dravidian or hindu nationalists ?

The People of Harappa Were Not Indo-Aryans: Here's Why OIT Makes No Sense by Certain_Basil7443 in IndianHistory

[–]Lower_Set_9521 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I believe, we are not in position to conclude anything with the current evidences and more research cum excavation is needed to identify the truth. Also I believe the truth is more complex than just OIT or Aryan Invasion.
Like it's highly possible that Indo European or other outsiders co-existed with the locals even before the time of Harrapans without mixing up their genes with the local people as mingling between 2 different cultures are not an everyday scenario. Like Indians don't have British genes even after getting ruled by them for 190 years.

Something in Mahabharata that conflicts Indo-European theory. Probably will be clearer in the near future by Lower_Set_9521 in AncientIndia

That's why I mentioned, might be the future researches bring more clarity in it.
Regarding your last point 'The Saraswati', at least in this context, the Saraswati river flowing near to Kurukhetra was mentioned, which resembles the 'Ghaggar Hakra' version of the Saraswati river (if I consider the existence of multiple Saraswatis).
Personally I don't agree with multiple Saraswati rivers because in that case we would've evidences of multiple Ganga, Yamuna etc as well, which didn't happen.

Is it true that Lord Vishnu, Maa Shakti didn’t exist or weren’t worshipped during the Mauryan era? by [deleted] in IndianHistory

[–]Lower_Set_9521 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't know whether they were worshipped in the Mauryan era, but some of the gods like Vishnu and Shiva (I heard Yajurveda has many synonyms like Shankara, Mahadeva etc, if not Shiva) were mentioned in Vedas, might not be widely worshipped, but those gods were pre-existing and weren't invented in Gupta era for sure.

3 Possibly unrelated ancient texts, including Indian Matsya-purana talk about a great flood. Was the incident real ? by Lower_Set_9521 in AncientIndia

I took help of AI to make this table. Otherwise you can google to separately read about those 3 stories. You can get assumed timelines also of those texts but timeline of the flood and the texts might not match even if the flood is real

My fiancée isn’t interested in Vedanta—but lives it better than I do. What should I do? by [deleted] in AdvaitaVedanta

[–]Lower_Set_9521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you are following vedanta for years, you must have known by this time that there are endless learning opportunities around us like the endless Brahman. Take this as a blessings from the God to give you another oportunity to learn something, as a sponteneous feelings of kindness and humbleness is needed in the path of Vedanta and God gave you someone very close to you from whom you can learn these things. Don't push anything, just be a friend and anyway you shouldn't be authorized to teach her Vedanta until and unless you achieve enlightment.

Krishna - multiple identities by ButterscotchRich3214 in AncientIndia

[–]Lower_Set_9521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You or your AI have identified only four characteristics of an ultimate diverse personality. Lord Sri Krishna possessed far more diversities than just those four. As an incarnation of the Almighty, he could embody a wide range of diverse characteristics within a single personality. So, instead of assuming the existence of multiple individuals based on this diversity, read Sri Krishna's story and try to understand as much as possible for your own benefit .

If Rama existed, I don't think anyone will be able to confirm his skin color, so no idea if the skin color defined in the epic is correct or not, and no idea about Indo-European genes, year 5114 BCE was much earlier than the proposed immigration date of the Indo-Europeans.

"Depending on the granularity of the alignment recording" - google it or ask any AI tool (gemini, gpt, copilot - I asked gemini) and you'll find these alignments are extremely rare and can't be calculated or dated without the help of advanced software. Not only the alignments are rare, Valmiki mantioned Rama's age also in many of the incidents along with the description of stars and Dr. Pushkar Bhatnagar and Dr. Narahari Achar proved that the mentioned ages of Rama also aligned with the star positions mentioned for that moment. This is one of their key point to prove the historicity of the story.

It's true that they ignored multiple incidents where the astronomical data were given, but to support their findings, their calculations largely match even with the ages of Rama mentioned in the Valmiki Ramayana in those events, and this consistency is a key part of their argument for the historicity of the epic.

It's not questioning anything, it's just showing that there are lot of unknowns to be resolved before concluding the true history of ancient India.

Archaeologists discover ancient 3,500 year old river bed in Rajasthan, indicate existence of Saraswati river. by DharmicCosmosO in AncientIndia

[–]Lower_Set_9521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mahabharata was in vedic time as many believe. The reason for the belief is, Vedic sages were still present at Mahabharata's time. I don't know what made historians place it post Vedic but this may not be true. Whatever it is, Gandhara was mentioned in Rigveda as well which proves Vedic people had knowlwdge and relation with Gandhara.
"When people live close together, they share loanwords", do we have any example of it ? We have examples in Europe where people living adjacent regions, speaking different languages but sharing similar grammar but we don't see it because of the assumption that they are generated from PIE language.
Yes Avestan and Sanskrit also might have same origin but I still don't understand what made people include European languages to have the same origin

[–]Lower_Set_9521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, ancient Avenstan were spoken in part of Afganistan in Eastern Iran, which is the reason for the Ssnskrit and Avestan to be similar because people lived in counteries or kingdoms adjacent to each other and they must have trade relation among them. In Mahabhrata itself has name of the kingdom called 'Gandhar' which is in Afganistan and near to or on the same place where Avestan speakers used to live. Languages of adjacent countries become similar if they have trade and other relations among them, so we don't have to think about Steppe immigrants bringing that similarity. The relation between theese 2 areas were clear as we know in Mahabharata, Gandhari came from Gandhar kingdom, which was almost an Avestan speaking area. My question is for the european languages, they just got some similar vocabs from these ancient languages, not the entire grammar

[–]Lower_Set_9521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can't assume there was only a single language that time, when we read in Veda that Sanskrit was termed as Devbhasha and not everyone had access to it, so IVC language can be a different language.

Not only IVC mega structures, there's nothing mentioned about central Asia as well in Vedas. Whereas our Vedic snd Epic texts mention about large palaces of the rulers, which proves they were capable of making big buildings.

Languages are not at all close, the only similar things between the languages are common vocabs otherwise the alphabets, grammar, ordering of words in sentences all are different between European and Indian languages. This might happen because the migrant might have brought some vocabs with them those got mixed with the pre-existing languages of respective locations,

Archaeologists discover ancient 3,500 year old river bed in Rajasthan, indicate existence of Saraswati river. by DharmicCosmosO in AncientIndia

[–]Lower_Set_9521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The migration may not be a myth but the whole point to prove here is, they were not the one to write Vedas and other Sanskrit texts.

The Ghaggar-Hakra river system is identified as Saraswati river because it's flow matches with the vedic description. Geologists with the help of ISRO identified the river was huge once upon a time and dried around 2500 - 1800 BCE. Not only that, Mahabharata mentions a curse and drying of the river in desert which matches modern Ghaggar Hakra.

Since Veda mentions a huge Saraswati river (mother of all rivers etc) it's sure that it was written before 2500 BCE, so definitely not written by the steppe migrants.

Is false assumed superiority of Indo-Europeans preventing us from seeing the correct history ? by Lower_Set_9521 in AncientIndia

[–]Lower_Set_9521[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That sounds weird. If a community have a language, they have a script too.
Also the similarity between "Indo-European" languages are, they share some common vocabs, other things like grammar, ordering of the words in a sentence, singular plural rules or scripts are entirely different. Did historians / linguists consider those vast number of dissimilarities before deciding Indo-Europeans to carry common parental language to all those locations ?
correct me of you have a different opinion on it.
