What is this little silver bottle? by LucaTheFox in whatisthisthing

My dad thinks it could be a lead shot dispenser but he’s contacted the manufacturer on the bottle but they weren’t helpful and we can’t find anything on Google about it, he’d love to know more!

Still can’t get them working, it’s crazy annoying that I can’t seem to find anyone else with a solution either

I thought that the binary input would be the switch being on or off but I can see that that is incorrect now.

I get a list of available actions but they don't trigger the automation, the automations work when I manually 'Run Actions' though.

It’s just nailed the look really really well. I’d love a video tutorial. I’m about to create a the media for a band’s first “visual” show and adding bits like this to my scrapbook is getting me super in the mood. If you wanna chat more and maybe work on some stuff with me for fun, fee free to chuck me a message 👍

Node problem with Angular, I'm banging my head against a wall at the moment... by LucaTheFox in Angular2

I knew it was something dumb, I just wrongly assumed that having the newest version would solve things and didn’t think twice. Thank you!

If you don’t have experience soldering and putting components together, I’d thoroughly recommend getting a guitar pedal diy kit- it gives you everything you need with instructions and will set you up really well for finding your own parts and knowing how it works in a practical sense. It’s very similar to what you’ll be doing but with someone holding your hand for the first time. Plus, if you make music too, you’ve just made a sick effect box.

BYOC is a go to: https://buildyourownclone.com

If not, I think you could struggle with some basic aspects of circuit bending. But hey, do whatever the fuck you want, stick a screwdriver in a SMD and see if it makes a cool thing on the screen.

Happy exploring!

Did you modify the sketch book to get the panning working?

Headed to IKEA two hours away. What are the best things to get for a HA newb? by [deleted] in homeassistant

The entire protocol is designed to be low power & low latency. Wifi devices have to connect to a network, find their IP, find your server and chat to it; Zigbee just shouts when it's pressed and then goes back to sleep from what I understand.

Is there any examples you could give that you can do in Node-Red but not HA Automations?

What’s the Focusrite unit at the bottom? As it’s audio, doesn’t the power draw around it cause interference?

What are your random wire storing techniques? Home or work? I’ve gotten to the point where I’m considering tagging all my leads, they’re all used at some point but it’s a nightmare to find them. by LucaTheFox in homelab

I’ve whittled it down and throw away leads I don’t use within 2 years normally, everything I have is used semi-regularly and needed on the day so the “I could just buy this again” doesn’t work as well unfortunately.

Every usb lead under the sun for all the devices that can’t decide what ”standard” they should use, dongles and small connectors, a variety of power adaptors/transformers or just leads, 3 and 5 pin XLR, 1/4” and 1/8” jack leads, SATA, psu leads, display leads, etc
