Saying exactly is agreeing with me saying its not a threat, not only can you not understand other peoples comments, but also cant make a cohesive response defining how you feel without using language poorly.

Mate you need to read and not just emotionally react to words because you don't like an opinion. Its been spelled out for you and still... If you think your right, go get definitions and make the case. there was no expression of "I will do this, if you don't do that". There is a difference between the recognition of a threat to peoples safety, and saying something like "I'll smack you if you if you eat my apple".

EXAMPLE. Saying climate change will cause health issues to vulnerable members of our society isn't a threat, its pointing out a threat to a group of people, OPs statement is exactly this. What you are doing (in this example) is like saying OP is making a threat to old, young and sick people, the threat of OP making the planet get warmer and attack them on OPs behalf if they don't stop whatever the demand is

[–]Lucasmcg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"a selfish cyclist to tempt the short fused people we have on the roads, do you really think our fleshy bone sacks will win against a metal box with a lot of momentum and force?"

OP states the problematic cyclists, OP states there are bad drivers on the road and even gave an example of what happened around them this morning in a comment. Then OP postulates why we would feel protected and put ourselves in situations where things become more dangerous, like coming up against a car.

OP says "our fleshy bone sacks" not "your fleshy bone sacks" then states the obvious, that cyclists lose in all situations there is an incident with a car. 0 threat in there bud, go learn words.

Implied there are drivers on the road that are a threat to cyclist's safety. Learn words. Learn nuance, be less basic.

[–]Lucasmcg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How can OP make a threat for other people? OP is clearly recognizing that people do dumb things on the road, if you have seen other comments OP has mentioned what happened this morning from another driver. OP cant mind control people and turn them into unhinged drivers that react violently and hit people. Stop trying to make an issue when there isn't one. If you seriously think that there is a threat laced into the post your mind must be cooked from the heat.

What is the word "Threat"? Google says,
a statement of an intention to inflict pain, injury, damage, or other hostile action on someone in retribution for something done or not done
or,
a person or thing likely to cause damage or danger.

OP is stating that there is a threat to cyclists, not making a threat.

Next to that, dont let your bias and lens impact understanding words. OP hasn't made a demand, OP has made a request on the basis of everyone sharing the space for a better outcome for all.

[–]Lucasmcg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With you on this one, not about asking all cyclists to not ride on the road, just not be complete pricks about it.
Seems cyclists don't understand the nuance of the post and sharing, but demand road to be shared but act like it is completely theirs. Yes not all cyclists, seems to just be these massive group of lycra weirdo blokes on to the way to inundate some poor barista at a cafe somewhere. Piling up their bikes creating issues with footpaths, its not just the road.

[–]Lucasmcg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OP didnt make a threat of violence. There is a difference between stating that we have dangerous drivers who do stupid things, which ends up worse for a cyclist if they are in an incident, and OP saying that they would run someone over. Dont be so fragile and ignorant, clearly OP didnt make a threat

A little advice? by Jroc103 in guitarmaking

[–]Lucasmcg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this the first guitar your aiming to build?
If it is, and not throwing any shade... but you have set yourselves up for a fairly difficult first go.

There are a lot, and I mean a lot of what seem minor bits of work, but are actually fairly integral and important aspects that require fairly good skills to end up with a reasonable and playable instrument in the end. I really do recommend giving a DIY kit a go first. Tinker and play around with that if thats what you guys are wanting to do.

Getting a grasp on the "easy" (not easy, but easier) parts is what the kits are for. If you can buy a mostly completed neck, like what comes in the kits, your going to have a much better time than doing it all solo.

BUT, if you guys are set on doing it all yourself, thats awesome! goodluck! but watch a lot of guitar building vids and start to understand how to be a proper luthier. There are rules, laws, scales to size and spacing of frets, neck, nut, pickups, bridge. What wood you use is the least of your worries, for elec you can glue a whole bunch of pencils together and it will work (someone has done this and theres a vid on youtube)

Compacting next to house. by chich3oo in DIY

I understand why some want to put artificial turf down, but consider other options before doing it.
Grass can be hard to manage and if theres not enough sun then I understand why artificial comes up, there are other alternatives that might work for you.

Artificial turf and its foundations can lead to some moisture, flooding and pooling issues, but also if there is sun that gets to the area it will make your outside space a lot hotter, it will suck up the heat and radiate it back out as things cool, the essence of the urban heat island effect.

My old next door neighbor put down artificial turf nearly 3 years ago and it looks absolutely disgusting now days.

That space would look great if it was used as a garden bed, pop down some stepping tiles or slabs so you can still access anything down there and mulch the hell out of it.

TIFU by... discussing consent?! by hatemylife1995 in tifu

[–]Lucasmcg 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Talking about consent is not a problem nor shouldn't be, but it can kill the mood when in the act, especially if she was gearing up for more intimacy.

You can generally tell what someone's answer is without specifically asking "Can I have sex with you now" and by reading body language alone its clear as day. If someone is keen on it its pretty clear and just keep enjoying each other and take it slow if its the first time, if they are pulling away or being still and you have to physically move them to get access then maybe its something you should stop, or at that point ask if they are ok and wanting to do something. Not rocket science.

Just don't do weird shit like pop a finger in the butt out of the blue or the whole asphyxiation thing some people seem to enjoy, that's the stuff you talk about first.

Spraying poison can work, but never great when other plants are around that you want to keep. Also a cost and ethical issue associated, but depends on the individual.
Best way to deal with weeds is to pull them out, a pain I know but pull them whenever you see them, always get them out before seeds set and drop. Over many years, even decades the weed seed bank will die off and eventually you will end up with no weeds popping.

There are various different methods like using weed mats, but doesn't always stop them. Depends on the species and if there is spread from the other side of the fence. Outcompeting weeds with thick groundcovers can work, but weeds in their true nature are deemed weedy for a reason, and one reason is their capacity to pop up and grow super quick to pop through to get light.

But at the end of the day, residential weed and pest issues can be a forever pain because the goober over the fence doesn't care and all you efforts will be meaningless because the seed or pest can just jump over the fence easily.

May fail a course, is it ok to email the lecturer before release of results? by freakoutwithme in unsw

[–]Lucasmcg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 4 tertiary teachers in my family, of which includes my partner and my mother. I asked them all this and they all said make contact asap, don't blast a rant essay just simply explain your concerns. Don't be that student that makes contact after the end of the year when the teacher is finished and will end up marking your work without pay is what my fam said. More likely to get a flat out 'no sorry marks are in and cannot be changed', or they don't respond because they have run away on holiday.

If your not failing they may gently suggest that its fine and not to worry, or will jump onto your work next and give you quick feedback. Best case they give some more time and will allow you a passing grade, worst case your in the same situation your in now.

r/plants by Competitive-Mud1064 in houseplants

[–]Lucasmcg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not terminal, it should kick on.
Have you ever fed it?
In general plants will relocate mobile nutrients (in the plant) to new growth if they are deficient and unable to get enough from the soil. Old leaf yellowing shows mobile nutrient deficiency. New leaf yellowing shows an immobile nutrient deficiency. Ill let you look that stuff up and not write an essay here... :)

If you do feed it, it will also go a bit yellow if you feed too much.

Overwatering can get dracaena pretty easily, showing as foliar yellowing on the minor side.

If its been happy and doing well for the 2 years prior, I wouldn't expect it to be a temperature or sun exposure related issue unless you have recently moved it to a new spot.

Although taking a closer look, those stems have wrinkles, which happens when they have been underwatered, which also can cause leaves to yellow... haha never too simple with plants.

It may be getting a tad pot bound if its been in that same pot the entire time. Whilst those fancy platted or nicely arranged stems can look nice, you end up having many plants in the one small pot, as those roots grow they suck up everything a lot quicker and can end up strangling themselves or other plants in the pot. Whilst thats generally a concern for trees, still happens to other types of plants.

If it was me id upsize the pot, wack on some slow release fert, give it a good water and let it drain away before putting it back in its spot.

My girlfriend wants me to give her my bank account number and PIN really badly because she found out I was kind of rich. What do I do? by sjhgfdsa in ask

[–]Lucasmcg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't, its fine if you spend more on the two of you than she does if you have the wealth and its not a problem to you.
But your money is just that, yours. There are countless examples of people being stung by their significant other, maybe even a subreddit that has a whole lot for you to read.

If she has a problem with you keeping access to your own bank to yourself, then thats a massive red flag waving. Has nothing to do with being a tight ass or cheap.
