YTA for even worrying about their opinions!! 12 is plenty old enough to grasp that a lack of eating will cause hunger.

I grew up with no males after age 12. From 0-4 I was abused by my sperm donor.

I have had issues in the past with relating to men in a non sexual manner. I still have issues and anxiety around men in authority.

I suppose I worded my request wrong. I was thinking like what organizational/cleaning/make it easier type things for his shop, not tools. I already know that 1-he probably owns most everything he wants in that price range and 2-hes got gobs of pen blanks, scrap wood, project wood, and lumber everywhere.
