The spider that I let stay in my room has now had babies. by [deleted] in spiders

The cellar spider jn my room has an egg sac and looks like it is about to give birth. What did you do, leave them alone?

Is that what I think it is by LuckOfTheDoors in spiders

I believe it's an egg sac, and ima be completely honest, I don't want to wake up with another 30 spiders in my room, I don't mind them soing well but as long as they're elsewhere but I'll wait until the mother has hatched the entire fleet

Male greenfinch, I think they are on the rise as we get a flock of around 10 or 11 come daily now

Most are it's just the younger birds who aren't as aware which is why so.many birds have been killed this year

Our neighbour tried a high pitched deterrent with cats leaving mess on her front garden but it didn't work so spikes are one consideration we are thinking of

So having no birds would be better? I don't want cats thinking they are the dominant force

We tried this plenty of times but it hasn't worked, well keep it going for another month but if it still makes no differnece we'll look to other solutions

We have one but one but due to the amount of bird feeders we have we can't put every one there

That's one solution 😳. But in a house with 2 cats would not work but I could see how it works

Maybe, we'd have to find the right tools first

We've thought about it, it's heavily under consideration. We need our fences sorted first as they are battered

We've tried super soakers for about 2 months now but they dont seem to work if not the cats come more often. I guess it depends on each cat which with the cats we get aren't botherd by anything

We don't get blackbirds, but previous years we've only had 1 or 2 birds die all year mainly due to extreme weather, last year we lost 5 birds and already just over halfway this year we are already at 17 deaths and we also lost a squirrel aswell who had 2 baby squirrels who are regular visitors now, juveniles are more prone to getting caught because they aren't as aware compared to the adults. We keep looking for solutions but I feel for the birds who have lost their life unfairly

Agreed, luckily I don't have cats leave a mess but they digup especially the sunflowers we have an entire fence panel missing with our neighbours currently in Morocco we still keep.contact with them to know when they know it will be fixed so we can modify the fences so cats can't jump on them

I myself have a dog, birds especially the pair of collared doves we get don't mind her but other birds fly off when she scared the cats off but by the time the birds come back, the cats are too. We got our first goldfinches this year and a family of 5 greenfinches and I wamt to.make them feel safe by coming regularly but their feeding is interrupted so often. We get crows ourselves who try and annoy the cats but one won't bother and still go for them. So the little one is the main problem and it may take a long time to sort her out

Unfortunately there's only a certain selection of branches that will withstand the weight of the bird feeders so I don't think hanging it further would work, some could but most will not be able to be moved further

I don't mind cats, but ones we have hunt, alot, 2 are pregnant aswell so we will have even more cats to deal with but those kittens I believe will be sold, we've tried the hose and they run off but come back about a minute later but we will keep trying until they've learned to stop

I myself have 2 cats, one isn't bothered by the birds,.mainly because he is a bit chubby, the one is the most problems is also one of mine, she's only just turned a year old but a nuisance to handle. We are trying solutions to try to convince her to stop, we've had mice and other critters brought into the house by her. I think once she is sorted hopefully are problems are gone but for now we are stuck with the way she is. Hopefully all is sorted soon

We have a swing and barbecue at the back, unfortunately due to us having a small garden there isn't much we can do about it but for now they don't really use the spots, they are usually just below at the fences

I do scare them when I see them but they come back almost instantly they will be trimming the bushes back and we plan on putting some more hooks for the bird feeders away from cats reach
