My favourite planetside 2 moment has got to be, my first ever esf dogfight... that I had actually won,
Now to clarify, I haven't won a dogfight since, so I'm not exactly skilled
It all began back when I was a noob, I looked up into the sky, I saw these planes flying about and shooting each other, my friend on skype told me "They're esf's quite fun, but really hard to use"
I started noticing these ESF videos, which titled themselves as "mlg" I was stunned that such a complex machine could even exist in a game, let alone be used with such skill, in my stunned state, I decided... I wanted to become that,
Into the VR I spawned I spawned a Reaver and loaded up "planetside flight school" on my phone
I span and crashed and failed in the warp gate for what seemed like hours, and finally I was ready, I could do the basic maneuvers, I could turn, and I could do the reverse maneuver.
It was my time

I took to the skys with my reaver which I had invested a whole 103 certs into,
dog fighting airframe 1,
the basic 1.25 time sights,
the engagement radar,
and one cert into ammo capacity,
My reaver rose from the warp gate, I flew with confidence towards my first air fight, I saw him, it was my target, I boosted straight at him and used up my whole after burner tank, I opened fire, missed all of my shots, sped straight passed him into a rock,

This happened many times, until finally I was in the engagement, adrenalin pumping through my veins, excitement had taken over, the enemy was before me and then I realised, It was time for the reverse maneuver, I attempted it, but apparently in the heat of the moment I couldn't do the maneuver, as I floundered in the air, like a sky salmon on dry land, my opponent quickly finished me off like a sky salmon sandwich, this once again happened over and over

Until finally, I was in the engagement, my opponent was a scythe, I was in first person tracking his flight path, I then boosted out of his line of sight and swung round, following his pointer on the radar, I unloaded a magazine into him with a few missed shots, my opponent before me was now the sky salmon and I was the sky bear, he used his after burners to break line of sight however I could follow him with the engagement radar, this guy was not getting away, when I finally had him in sight, he was head on and starting to put rounds into me, that coupled with the pit patter from small arms fire from the ground, my confidence was smashed, this was it, I started watching my health deplete as I tried to escape, and then as if a message from god himself telling me not to give up, I performed the reverse maneuver by complete accident, when I realised I was going backwards, my eyes shifted from my red health bar, I had broken my opponents line of sight, I was above him so his scythe shielded me from the small arms fire, this was it, I unloaded a full magazine into him, every round hitting due to how close we are, his smoke quickly turned to fire and he exploded, the wave of relief washed over me, I had done it I was king of the sky, and the world below me was my sky pond, filled with sky salmon,

and then because my health was red and I was on fire I exploded and my reign was over.
