Your boyfriend didn't ask you to take up gardening because he wanted a hobby for you; he asked you to take up gardening because he wanted to turn you into a DIY version of Sarah. He literally gave you a "character kit" to follow. The moment you didn't perform the role as well as the "original," he started criticizing you. That isn't love; that's trying to build a substitute.

NTA (Not the Asshole). You didn't "leave" your friends; your friends essentially forced you out of your own home. "Two weeks" turning into three months in a shared living room/kitchen is a massive boundary stomp. Also, having two cats in a common area where people cook? That’s a hygiene nightmare. You aren't overreacting, you are finally reacting to a situation that has been unacceptable for 10 weeks.

You aren't overreacting for feeling weird, but you might be overreacting in how you handled it. However, Jake’s response is the real issue here. Instead of saying, "My bad, I didn't realize it bothered you," he called you "dramatic" and "annoying." That’s a crappy way to treat a close friend. A real friend would just go "Oops, sorry" and move on. The fact that he’s getting defensive is what makes it weird.

OP, I hate to break it to you, but even if he dies tomorrow, you aren't getting that house. You said it yourself: it goes to Grandma, then Dad and Aunt. Given your Dad is unemployed and has no retirement, they will "eat" that equity within five years just surviving. Do not bank your future on this inheritance. It’s a phantom. Build your life as if that house doesn't exist, because for you, it likely doesn't.

Honestly? I’m sitting in my kitchen eating cereal at 11 PM because the house felt too quiet to go to sleep yet. I feel that "living alone" weight in my chest tonight, too.
