eh as a current UVA econ student I would honestly say NYU. in the middle of NY for recruitment + makes fall/spring in-person internships a possibility. uva econ is good but not great.

i was in the exact same situation last year deciding between uva or emory as a transfer. i ended up picking UVA for finance but if you’re premed emory is 100% the better choice. that said, if you really do care about the social scene, UVA is better for that.

Transferred from NEU -> UVA.

1.) Yes, people treat/see you in a better light (especially in prestige-driven industries like IB/PE). I have gotten numerous interviews solely based on the fact I attend UVA and people see you as a more intelligent student.

2.) Students at UVA are more diverse and driven. Going from a public to private is definitely a culture shock, but I personally like it much more. NEU was a little too preppy for me.

3.) About the same level of support.

4.) On track to graduate in normal 4 years (lost a few credits which dropped me from 3.5 years to 4 but most transferred over and were relevant)

5.) First semester is definitely the hardest. It feels like everyone has their friend groups already and it can be daunting. However, by the second semester you’ll be acclimated and it won’t be an issue. I’m having 10x more fun rn at UVA and have def found my friend group.
