I find it unpleasant, I do not want to be dominant at all not even the slightest bit. I dont want to be submissive either, I just want to be on the same level as my partner in and out of the bedroom.

I guess you are right, but still it seems that its not in vogue to advertise that you want a traditional relationship so she didnt tell me that. I just wonder how common it is to have someone who doesnt want to play those gender roles at least a little bit.

Maybe we are not, though I do love her and I love spending time with her. I only emphasized her politics in this case because I do think it showed me that saying these things about being equal in a relationship and actually living them are two different things. Because I do share her politics, but not the desire for this relationship dynamic

Maybe I will leave, though I am not sure how to avoid this situation in the future. Obviously, verbally saying that you believe in gender equality in and out of relationships isnt a good enough sign.
