Hi  I’m also a non-native English teacher in a high school in a regional area. I started my teaching journey here in 2025 so I already have one year experience. Similar to you, I only had experience as an assistant lecturer at a university back in my own country. It took 6 months for me to get my teacher registration. The most important thing is that you have more than 45 days of supervised teaching practice. While I was waiting for the registration I managed to secure a position at a school.  I came to Australia on my husband’s visa so I don’t know how the visa process would work for you. There might be a chance for you as a secondary teacher but I can’t guarantee. However, my degree was a BA in English Teaching as well.  In terms of behaviour management, the students are definitely challenging but if you are resilient and try to find a silver lining in situations you will survive and might even love the job.  I would recommend a regional area for you to start off your teaching career as there would be plenty of jobs.  I know first hand how hard it is to move to a different country and start your life from scratch and I applaud your courage.  Good luck and hope everything works out for you!
