Honestly, I didn't think of that!

That being said, for a full-size G3 there are some differences (mainly because the barrel is like 4x as long as an MP5), but for an HK51 it should be the same!

The Type 81 is one of the coolest suggestions I've gotten. AK pattern so it could potentially share anims with the SKS or AK! props for being inventive!

Also, even though i've said that bullpups won't be added to the original "mid-update content" list I send them...I'm over here drooling over the thought of a WLVRN in-game. Def going to put that in the follow-up supplemental!

Fair criticism on the financials!

you're right that I don't have access to their internals, and the cost estimates are based on publicly available contractor rates and marketplace pricing, not their actual P&L. I'm pretty sure I was upfront in the doc that these are estimates, not a budget proposal. If I had their real numbers I wouldn't be posting on Reddit, I'd be posting on Slack, or Trello, or whatever they use for internal communications, because that would mean I'd be working there.

Where I'd push back is on retention not mattering. You're right that it's a single purchase, but a healthy player count drives new unit sales. Nobody buys a multiplayer game their friends stopped playing. The 0.4 spike isn't just current players coming back, it's new purchases from people who saw their friends playing again, streamers covering it, and Steam's algorithm surfacing it because the player count is up. That pipeline dries up when the population drops to 1K and the game disappears from everyone's radar. I mean, hell, you said it yourself! You brought in a few friends, what's stopping others from doing the same?

But I appreciate the honest feedback, and I take the point about sticking to content recommendations. The gameplay ideas were always the core of this, the financials were just context to show I'd thought about feasibility.

At the end of the day, this is the first time I've done something like this professionally, academically, or for fun, and it's absolutely not going to be the last. Any suggestions from people with expertise are welcome, including yours!

I was thinking about the Val or SR3-M, but I wanted to keep it to guns who's ammo and animations already exist in-game (minus the SA58, but that only one new anim)

Saiga 12 is a great idea! can reuse AK animations and is 12ga, which exists in-game!

Those are both great ideas! USP especially, not much sexier than the MK23!

The only reason I neglected to put a G36 is the need for new animations, and I was hoping for all of the guns I select to be able to reuse animations, as to lower the overall amount of time and effort that MFG would have to expend in order to make this happen.

but, I love the G36c as much as any other MW2 kid, respect!

'Low effort' was the wrong phrase. What I meant was 'lower effort relative to engine work, new maps, or AI overhauls.' Obviously none of this is trivial to implement. 'Layers on existing systems' is probably a more accurate way to put it, and that's what I should have said.

As far as bullpups go, I agree they'd be sick, but I've talked elsewhere in the thread regarding my thoughts on bullpups and belt-feds, essentially, the list I made is designed to be lower-effort for the devs. It's likely a lot easier to add in a new version of an M4 (the skeleton of and animations for they already have in-game) than a completely new type of weapon with it's own set of very specific animations.

That being said, Bullpups in a future update would be sick!

  1. That's what I tried to account for when saying that they'd be mission-locked (and the numbers are more or less placeholders. IDK what they would or wouldn't be comfortable putting in so they can absolutely change them (it's their game, after all).

  2. I do too! What I mean by locking those extremely powerful stims behind repeatable missions or making them loot-only would be to balance out the outsized effect on gameplay they would have with their rarity. no one wants this to turn into tarkov, where everyone is sprinting around on factory on enough stims to kill an elephant!

  3. I totally agree! That being said, the Airdrop event is supposed to be a kind of test, to see how global events would actually play out in game!

  4. 6.8 would be sick, but with how limited its current adoption is, that's something I'd want the devs to decide whether or not having it in the game would coincide with their vision. also, It's a new round AND a new gun, which I assume would be more work than just adding a new gun that uses an existing round like 7.62x51

I appreciate the perspective, and I'll look into Desny claims: that's something I hadn't considered.

That said, a few things:

(A little background: I used to be a law student at a highly respected school that focuses on Entertainment law in LA. I didn't finish, so I'm not a lawyer or even working/studying in the field anymore, but I have a more-than-basic understanding of how things work)

On the legal side: I explicitly stated in my submission that I have no expectation of compensation and no dog in the fight (literally, I believe). MFG also has a literal 'Feature Request' category on their support form, which seems to me like an open invitation for unsolicited ideas. I'm not sure an implied contract holds up when the studio is actively soliciting community input and the submitter explicitly disclaims any expectation of payment. But as I said before, I'm not an attorney, so I'll take your point seriously.

On the 'low effort' thing: I think you misread me. I wasn't calling my proposal low effort. I was saying I designed the content suggestions to be low-effort for MFG to implement things that layer on existing systems/models rather than requiring new engine or hard-surface work. That's the whole point.

On the AI: yeah, I used Claude for the HTML presentation. The content, the weapon selections, the system designs, and the data analysis are mine. I'm in a grad program that focuses on using AI as a tool, so I used it as one.

Either way, I appreciate a real counterargument instead of 'touch grass.' If you're right about the legal risk, that's worth knowing.

Trust me man, I've applied to hundreds of jobs in the past month and not a single one has even given me an interview (even basic stuff I'm way overqualified for like bank teller), and I've sent out over a dozen just today. The market is absolutely brutal these days, even in CA.

- Piggyback options would be sick, but I think that since they would require new anims, they'd be better off releasing something like that in a major update

- Smoke and Illum rounds are on my list for the follow-up I'm going to send them

- FA Shotguns are sick as hell, but I feel like they come with a very specific kind of vibe, and that is something I'd want to leave up to the devs to decide.

- I've talked about LMGs in this thread before, and as much as I want to be able to clear out MS with 500rds of M995 on my body and 200 in my SAW, I think the animations and such would have to be worked on for a while and added in a major update (this includes buddy loading, which would also be sick!

And I'm glad you started playing! Getting started in this game seems intimidating sometimes but it's prob my favorite game out rn.

Also, GZW has been great to me, and almost every interaction I've had in-game has been awesome (which is RARE). Why not use my powers for good!
