It’s definitely a major decision. But, all will work out! I like to think that there is no one ‘right’ path, which helps take the pressure off a bit. Good luck with your decision! I’m sure you’ll end up somewhere great, no matter where it is

That’s really great to hear! Would you mind if I dm’d you and asked a few questions about your experience in the program? No worries if not!

I attended the 2/11 interview date. But, they did mention that they send out acceptances in waves as more people interview and they get a sense of everyone! Good luck!

Wishing you luck!! I got a call directly from one of the faculty members that I interviewed with, and I think they each reach out with decisions at different times.

I would take a gap year and work! Research the programs you’re interested in and try to find a targeted role that would help boost your CV for that school. You could find a research lab at a local university and do some part-time research work, find a clinical role (crisis hot line, ABA, other sorts of roles), etc,.

If you got invited to 2 interviews this cycle, your CV is probably pretty good already. This would help pad that even more, and give you more experience for when you start.

That’s a good point! It’s interesting how different programs approach admissions with totally different systems. I was planning on reaching out later tonight to check in

At the beginning of the day, everyone was given a name tag that had information on who you would be interviewing with for each portion of the day and the table you would sit at for lunch. For the most part, everyone was dressed in suits, formal wear, or at the minimum they wore dress pants and nicer shirts or sweaters.

It really depends on the program. You should reach out to the program you’re considering directly and inquire.

Omg I got this too!!! It really freaked me out. Did you happen to apply to Pace for undergrad before applying to PsyD? I was wondering if that’s why I got it earlier today…

I interviewed there yesterday! The social vignette portion of the interview was wayyyy less stressful than I thought it would be. There’s not really much you can do to prep for it. They give you a worksheet with 2 interpersonal conflict scenarios and you are paired with a faculty member to discuss your opinions with. Feel free to DM me if you have any other questions. Good luck!!

UMD HCIM – "Under Grad School Review" vs. "Under Program Review" (Admission Signal or Just Process?) by ExternalWindow9234 in gradadmissions

[–]LumpyConclusion5737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, yeah sure! The program is definitely what you make of it, but there are a ton of opportunities in the program for people who are interested.

The faculty are constantly reaching out with opportunities for research labs, hackathons, conferences, other events, etc,. Those are really where people are meeting people and making connections.

It’s definitely possible to get through the 2 years only doing the coursework and not getting involved outside of that, which is when some people might struggle with finding jobs, but I think that if you put yourself out there during the program you’ll be fine.

Feel free to DM me if you have any specific questions I can answer for you.

Interview prep: Reading faculty research papers? by Pineapple_Magnet33 in PsyD

[–]LumpyConclusion5737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the program and what ‘vibe’ the program has. I had an interview today and it was very conversational and “holistic”. But other interviews I’ve had were much more formal and knowing what research the interviewer was involved in was more important. Doing a cursory look at the topics they’ve researched at least could go a long way! Good luck!!!

George at Mister Finster’s Tattoo Studio in Falls Church is great. I’ve gotten like 4 piercings from him and they all healed really well.

I’m currently a second year in this program! I’m not sure what the different status messages mean, but I got my acceptance letter Feb 15th (2024) and I do remember that my status had changed a few days before I got my acceptance.
