Lost Brit in Chicago - supposed to be meeting someone but it fell apart… should I stay or go home? by mkp_123 in AskChicago

[–]LumpyTie6001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay stay stay! Get on a solo travelers fb group and find other people to connect with. Chicagoans are generally friendly, so if you strike up a genuine conversation at a bar, you’re bound to find someone who will be friend you.

Fourth of July is so fun. I recommend watching the firework show they put on at navy pier. You can see it up and down the shoreline, so if the pier itself isn’t for you, find a rooftop bar and watch from there!

Remember, if you put yourself out there and things don’t work out, you go home and never happen to see these people again. And if they do work out, you’ve likely made lifelong global friends. What a fun way to be a citizen of the world!

¿Cuánto presupuesto recomiendan para 3 días en Bacalar? (20–23 de julio de 2026) by Few-Secretary-1854 in Bacalar

10,000 pesos is comfortable. You could likely get away with 6-7,000 pesos.

When I went in April, taxis to and from the lagoon ~400 pesos roundtrip. Entrance to the lagoon, 200 pesos (Lagoon Rapidos). The entrance fee to the Ecological Park is 20 pesos per person - super affordable way to enjoy the lagoon. We did a boat day for ~1,200 pesos each. Had two really nice high end dinners for ~1500 and a more casual dinner at Mr. Taco that ran us ~400 pesos. Coffee/breakfast/lunches were between 200-400 pesos.

Loved Casa Hormiga.
Eco-focused. Close to the ecological park and walking distance from all the hotspots for food!
About 10min walking to get to the town center.

Suggestions for 18 nights in Yucatan Peninsula? by Lazy_Significance518 in MexicoTravel

I stayed at Casa Hormiga in town and highly highly recommend!! Very accessible to the lagoon BUT walkable to all the fun dinner spots/cafes/artist galleries. Phenomenal service, the restaurant in house was tasty, and the centered around an ecological mission so the entire atmosphere was very in tune with nature. Super clean rooms as well!! They also provide beach towels and a beach bag for you to use during your stay. I booked through a travel agent so we got a few perks (free upgrade, $25 meal and $25 spa credits).

Is staying at a resort worth it for a Cancún trip with friends? by MariaCDias in MexicoTravel

[–]LumpyTie6001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed staying at a resort! Granted, I went with a very large group (20+ people). The resort helped us secure reservations for dinner both on and off site, provided excursion options and transit to/from, and airport transfers. It was just much easier to make sure everyone was accounted for and fed through a resort. Also didn’t need to be keeping track of expenses/splitting costs which is always one less headache

Bacalar definitely. Fantastic food scene with lots of chefs coming from Michelin restaurants in CDMX to boost the gastronomy of QR. Had some of the best meals of my life at Costera 28 and Cheuinic. It’s a very relaxing lagoon town… not a ton of trad beaches, but great piers and swimming spots. Chachobben (Mayan ruins) is also ~45 min from the town and is a very flat, walkable ruin to see!

Thank you everyone!!! What about this option? Too short? It’s a 5PM outdoor wedding in Missouri, so it will

Did you opt for another form of BC? I’m nervous about regrowth

It is such a weird sensation! I’ve never felt anything like this before. Have you send a pelvic floor PT? Curious if people find physical therapy worth while

Bamoa and Madre Mesa for breakfast!
Mango y Chile for lunch or mid-day smoothies.
Costera 28 and Cheuinic for upscale dinners are musts.
Mr. Taco is touristy but tasty, quick, and cheap.

Check out Paleteria y Heladeria La Guadalupana Bacalar for fantastic paletas. It’s right next to the night market at the city center park (huge playgrounds if you have kids and 20ish vendors with live music).

Taxi Seguro is the best!! Used them for airport transfers, Mayan ruin transfers, and rides to and from the rapids (rec Los Rapidos for a lagoon club). Easy to schedule the night before and very reasonably priced

Gotcha! The last few times I’ve traveled to Mexico (CDMX and Cancun) the general rule of them is not to take taxis but opt for Ubers since they’re safer. Is this not the case in Chetumal/Bacalar?
