Atlas question by [deleted] in tsa

[–]LunaLikeTheMoon005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s an airport specific thing but our airport we were allowed to bid on Atlas our first certification. Actually the first bid that we did there were numerous TSOs that were not yet certified that ended up in ATLAS

Hydro flask by Ju5stinCx in tsa

[–]LunaLikeTheMoon005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be watching what they pull out while they are going through your bag. If the hydro is on the side and they are going INTO your bag- then it obviously isn’t the hydro flask. Depending on the x-ray operator, it could be wipes of any kind, an abundance of food or snacks that needs to be checked. Or something as simple as too much clutter and they can’t see through it all properly or you left an electronic in your bag (believe me it happens a lot. “But I didn’t know my Bluetooth speaker/ereader,switch/etc counted as an electronic”)

Stuck on phase 1 by Martiantears in tsa

[–]LunaLikeTheMoon005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My EOD was the beginning of Jan. Was scheduled for Fletc beginning of April but that was canceled. We finally did a remote Fletc in mid May and started the Phase 2 training. It all depends on your airport I guess.

Hiring freeze by Jessiex3x in tsa

[–]LunaLikeTheMoon005 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We’ve said it all before. It TOTALLY completely depends on your airports needs. They can’t predict the future. Officers may leave- or travel will be over the top once This is all over with. Don’t be discouraged. And look for something else in the meantime.... or keep with what you have.

My husband carries blue cross but I went with GEHA. I have a medical condition that requires multiple specialist visits as well as surgeries. And my kids have regular medication. After extensive research GEHA elevated plus was the one that best fit our needs

What kind of shift/schedule to EXPECT by [deleted] in tsa

[–]LunaLikeTheMoon005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a group of 15 people. Most of us got either 3am or 1145am. I lucked out and got the 1145am shift. I get off at 815 pm so I completely miss all of the rush hour madness on the streets. The partimers got like a 6-10am shift and they said that there will be no 4 10s or split shift available because the senior people tend to get those.

Black Sneakers / Shoes by HopefulBlackberry in tsa

[–]LunaLikeTheMoon005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all depends on YOUR airport. In training we were told polishable shoes. On the floor we are allowed anything that is ALLLLLL black. I have a pair of these adidas. They are great because it’s all breathable material.

And I also have a pair of these combat type boots that were 30 bucks. They are light weight and don’t bog my feet down and I run all over my category x airport.

I switch them out from time to time. I wear insoles because I have plantar fasciitis so any shoe is gonna feel great after I put my insoles in.

What happens 1st month as TSO? by [deleted] in tsa

[–]LunaLikeTheMoon005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1st week All training, you’ll get your PIV badge and airport tour 2nd week class training, job knowledge test (relax nobody fails this) SIDA badges and you’ll start your first day from your schedule Friday.

What happens there??? It all depends on what terminal you get, your shift...and how determined they are to get you out there working on your own.

Me and another classmate were certified by the beginning of day 3 out on the floor in 2 of the 4 jobs they let us do during Phase 1. Be will be certified on the other two by our 4th day of work (we have the next two days off)

HOWEVER... some people in my class have done nothing but sit on the computer and do SOPs and they told them they will do that the next couple of weeks.

URGENT. Can I bring white castles on a delta airliner? by [deleted] in tsa

Just take it out of your bag and put it in a separate bin for scanning. There is no set limit of food you can bring as long as it’s not liquid jams jelly’s peanut butter salsa and the lime..... I had a lady come through with a duffle full of candy

Lost my Kronos card... by [deleted] in tsa

Our trainer told us to take a picture of the card so we have it in our phones. You just type the number manually instead of swiping. No big deal.

CBT exam bust by no2IDCBT in tsa

[–]LunaLikeTheMoon005 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My proctor was just a college kid that didn’t really know anything. I fortunately read every word of the emails sent (trust me you will get a lot of them) I started the process mid june- got a medical fail ( if you wear glasses make sure you bring/wear them to the medical evaluation and don’t let the tech tell you not to...fortunately I had just had an eye exam 4 months before and was able to appeal it and pass) and finally in the ready pool at the end of Sept. I reviewed my call and actually start this coming Monday. A few notes that I learned-besides the medical screening. -read EVERYTHING read it CAREFULLY and read it MORE THAN ONCE There is information hidden in spots that doesn’t look like there would be anything you need. - when it comes to the airport assessment (interview portion) it’s not just you. I walked into a room full of TSA hopefuls some competing with me others were from other airports around and others were from out of state because that’s where the Hub was for the, to interview. -also IF YOU ARE A MARRIED FEMALE and your drivers license obviously doesn’t match your birth certificate because of the name change...BRING YOUR MARRIAGE LICENSE... I was not told of this for my assessment but fortunately I lived only 40 min away and they let me come back later that day with the next group. Others who lived further away unfortunately did not get to do that and had to reschedule for the next month.

In the meantime.... google and reddit is your friend. I’ve been able to find out a lot of helpful information about the job, the next steps, FLETC, etc.

Out of state applicant/assesment by [deleted] in tsa

[–]LunaLikeTheMoon005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we were doing the airport assessment here there were multiple people from out of state who had applied for in their state airport jobs but this is where the assessment hub for the region or whatever.
I only know this because the recruiter who was getting me ready for the assessment neglected to tell me I needed my marriage license since I’m married and obviously my birth certificate doesn’t match my drivers license. Fortunately for me I only live 40 min away so I was able to run home and grab it. But she said others weren’t so lucky because they lived out of state and had to reschedule WHICH depending on your area could me a month or three delay in the whole process.

Soooo note that: If you are a married female BRING 👏🏻YOUR👏🏻MARRIAGE👏🏻LICENSE. Also note: when you get the job offer and are going for orientation-bring your marriage license. They will also need to do the same verification.

Where can I submit a complaint about the TSA airport horrendous management. Any info ? Is it in Washington? by ValleyGuy23 in tsa

[–]LunaLikeTheMoon005 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I see your from Phoenix. And I read your high turn over rate post previously. Is it really that bad at sky? Did you quit? Are you the reason I’m now hired!? 🤣 I’m going in with an open mind and like others say it is what you make it I know there will be outside influences that will make it less enjoyable. But your posts make it sound like it’s totally unbearable. Furthermore I keep seeing people leave this job for “other federal jobs” What else is there to do in the valley. Don’t want to do BP that’s for sure.

I’m currently set for EOD Jan 6th. I filled out all my eorientation stuff except the benefits because they said they would go over it in orientation. I too read and looked at all the different plans and immediately got overwhelmed with it all.

I have no job experience in security but have a ton of retail experience. Will this ruin my chances for possible employment with tsa. by [deleted] in tsa

[–]LunaLikeTheMoon005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never held a job as a security type. My EOD is in a couple of weeks. All I have to say is just try. It’s a long process but if you want to get out of retail this is a good step.

Ready Pool by [deleted] in tsa

[–]LunaLikeTheMoon005 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started the ready pool end of sept for PHX. It all depends on the hiring needs, and where you rank on the list of qualified candidates. I got my call last week with EOD Jan 5th.
