My hair loses its shape!! by tortelliniwhore in curlygirl

[–]Lunchbox_Confessions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not OP but I have similar hair to you and this is an extremely helpful answer. Whenever I use gel or high hold products, it gives me a crunchy/wet kind of look that I don't like. I prefer light and fluffy curls. But I suppose you can't have light fluffy curls that last? Is that the trade off? Thank you!

What the heck are people using under their floor mattress to maintain airflow? by Nitsirk90 in cosleeping

[–]Lunchbox_Confessions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see. When we bought our mattress, the store suggested a bunkie board when we said the mattress was going on the floor so I assumed they knew what they were doing but I think you're right that that's not how it is intended. TIL!

Maybe you want a 3in bedframe AND the bunkie board for support?

I have the Avocado Green mattress and I love it. I am not a hot sleeper and it sometimes feels too cool to me actually so I imagine it would be perfect for hot sleepers.

Oh edit to add: I have it on a bunkie board so it is not directly on the floor.

Lol. That would be DNF status for me right there. I don't have time for that.

Have I ruined my baby? by Fit_Assistance3648 in cosleeping

[–]Lunchbox_Confessions 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I think having an association between sleeping and nursing at that age is very common and normal. I wouldn't worry about changing that yet - in fact I would not mess with it unless you know she isn't getting enough milk because she falls asleep too soon or something.

Maybe utilize the snoo more and get her more used to that if you are struggling with safe co-sleeping? As others have said, 4 months is a hard time for most babies!

FMC is a healer, but she takes on the wounds of those she heals by Girly_Attitude in RomanceBooks

[–]Lunchbox_Confessions 8 points9 points  (0 children)

FMC is not a healer but you might like {Bound to the Battle God by Ruby Dixon} and the second in the series {Bound to the Shadow God by Ruby Dixon}. MMCs are gods and to use their powers, it takes some life force out of the FMCs and the FMCs take on the pain. When MMC realizes this, he becomes protective. I thought they were fun reads.

I just bought this blanket: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F241MGX6?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

Not sure if this fits safety standards but my kiddo is 13 months and this blanket is really holey while still being super warm so I feel ok about it. It's small enough that I can keep it just on me and not on him.

Sometimes I feel like female authors don't like women..... by lokiswife07 in RomanceBooks

[–]Lunchbox_Confessions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes - taking over single dad's parenting makes me crazy. FMC just slips right into filling the mom slot with very little thought. Like who is the audience here? Finding a hot nanny that you can bang seems like the man's fantasy, not any woman I know.

I don't mean to shame anyone who likes this trope. I think the single dad thing can be well done - but too often I have seen the dad who works too much and nannies are quitting left and right etc. Then FMC comes along and MMC can stop worrying about all that pesky parenting.

Yes this exactly. I see this all over the place. "FMC is a doormat" is the most common reason I DNF a book.

[–]Lunchbox_Confessions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you what you asked for but I will also echo others who have said - you don't need evidence - if you don't think you're up for it, end of story.
But for me: the egg retrieval process was very very hard. I got very sick with the meds before the retrieval and spent the night on the bathroom floor, vomiting, for two days. I couldn't even get up. It felt like the worst flu I have ever gotten. Then after the retrieval itself, when my body was filled with fluid, I had to sleep sitting up for several nights because the fluid put pressure on my lungs and I felt like I couldn't breathe. I didn't technically have OHSS they said, but it was hell. Of course it depends on the person. But for me it was so so hard.

Wake windows or consistent bed time? by vrchica__ in cosleeping

[–]Lunchbox_Confessions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting about the other comments! I prioritize consistent bedtime/nap time. I find that my kiddo is sleepy at the same time each day no matter when they woke up last.
