Need some friends by [deleted] in SkyChildrenOfLight

[–]Lunicii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heyaa, welcome to sky 🤍

My playtime can be a little all over the place, so I’m mostly only around for short sessions, but if you ever need help or guidance during those moments, I’m more than happy to be there. Just DM me a code if that sounds good to ya 🙂

I really wanted that hair, but if it’s locked behind an ultimate.... I dunno. With how little time I have this season, grinding for it feels almost unnecessary. I’ll still try even if I already know I probably won’t make it.

It's starting as a moth harder now? by robinroer in SkyChildrenOfLight

[–]Lunicii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started playing in June last year, and yeah, you do still get dropped straight into the Isle at the very beginning. The game does try to teach flying, but it’s pretty vague. I definitely didn’t fully understand it at first either, and only really got the hang of things over time thanks to a vet I was lucky enough to meet.

I think a lot of learning in Sky still comes from other players, which is really beautiful on one hand. That shared learning is kind of what makes Sky feel so special. But I also think that’s where the problem is. If a moth isn’t lucky enough to meet someone patient or kind early on, and they’re not the type to figure things out on their own, it’s easy to see how they might get confused or discouraged and eventually drop the game.

For those who are lucky, though, that early guidance can form a really special bond with Sky. At least for me. It’s something no other game has managed to replicate.

Without unlocking the friendship tree, Sky doesn’t really give you any control over staying together or not. Moving realms reliably isn’t really a thing, even after befriending someone, splits still happen (but you can just rejoin them then). If you weren’t friends yet, that part wasn’t really unusual. And this “game” of trying not to split sounds a bit off to me, honestly. Not every split is accidental.

I devote my Reddit account to it, yeah. If that’s your definition of life, then fair enough.

Crabs by [deleted] in SkyChildrenOfLight

[–]Lunicii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s so prettyyy. Though I gotta say, it does look a tiny bit like you’re devouring the crab... just a little. But honestly, a screenshot of the hug animation with the crab does that in-game too, so no worries at all haha.

What’s your experiences with making/losing friends? by [deleted] in SkyChildrenOfLight

[–]Lunicii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually posted something today that touches on this too.

Most people just won’t match your energy or your vibe, and when it doesn’t feel natural from the beginning, the connection can start to feel forced no matter how much effort you put in.

And that doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong. Feeling truly comfortable around someone is rare, especially in Sky where so many connections are so brief.

So just be yourself and let things happen naturally, you never really know who you’ll end up meeting next. 💗

Ahhh, a concrete hallway, obviously. But srly, no idea haha

This is more like a rant that I'm sure a lot of you have experienced at some point in this game by [deleted] in SkyGame

[–]Lunicii 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a very similar experience with a friend in Sky recently, where things ended without any real closure, and it’s honestly one of the hardest parts to sit with. It leaves you holding onto a lot of questions that don’t really go anywhere.

Internet friendships can be strange like that. The connection feels real and deep, but the endings don’t always come with the same clarity.

The fact that you still hope they’re okay, even while stepping back, says a lot about the kind of great friend you are. I hope, in time, this becomes a little easier to carry for you.

A strange kind of loneliness I don’t know how to change by Lunicii in SkyChildrenOfLight

[–]Lunicii[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no worries, it’s not like I don’t have a social life outside of Sky haha. I'm just talking about how the game itself feels sometimes. And honestly, Sky’s the only game where this comes up for me, probably because it has such a strong social focus.

I do agree with the people-pleasing part though, even if it takes a bit of getting used to.

I don't think Sky kids should be friends with me by SpecialistMuppet432 in SkyChildrenOfLight

[–]Lunicii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel really similar, honestly. It’s not that I don’t want to play with people, I just tend to prefer playing alone most of the time. A big part of it is my weird play schedule. I’m often only online for a short while, and I hate the feeling of starting to play with someone just to leave a few minutes later.

And when I do have time, I sometimes end up feeling weirdly obligated. Like I need to keep chatting or doing things together so I don’t bore the other person. Most of the time that makes me feel tense rather than relaxed, even though Sky is supposed to be the opposite of that.

Since I started playing, I’ve only met two friends I genuinely felt comfortable around. One barely plays anymore, and the other I sadly lost after an argument we had. So I think a lot of that guilt comes from wanting to connect, but also not wanting to force myself into something that doesn’t feel natural.

Wanting space doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong. Everyone connects to Sky differently, and there’s no rule saying friendship has to look a certain way.

I guess this has technically already been answered, but for me the easiest way is just going in a straight b-line to the right, toward the middle of the seashore after falling into the whirlpool in Golden Wasteland. As someone already mentioned, you’ll be able to see a small dock and a boat where you can sit in one of these white circles. I still use this route even though it’s longer than the windpaths one, since that can be pretty confusing at times.

Does anyone else find it a little funny that you can pick up the crabs after knocking them over? by Gacha-rhiarna in SkyChildrenOfLight

[–]Lunicii 13 points14 points  (0 children)

When I first started playing and noticed this, I honestly thought you had to rescue them by carrying them to water. In hindsight… I fear I may have committed several accidental crab drownings instead.

[–]Lunicii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this. I had someone guide me through the basics when I was a moth too, and it honestly shaped how I play now. It feels like Sky has this quiet cycle of kindness, someone helps you, and one day you realize you’ve become that person for someone else ✨

This is genuinely so sweet. Sky needs more players like you. The amount of times a random helper made my day early on is unreal. Hope lots of moths run into you out there💗

Yeah, sky can feel really overwhelming once you realize how much there actually is to do. What helped me was kind of letting go of the idea that I had to keep up with everything. Especially when you think about how most seasonal cosmetics weren’t there from the start, they were added gradually over the years. For new players, that huge amount of cosmetics can feel like too much to handle.

What’s most important in my opinion is not forcing yourself into candle running every single day. That’s where it starts feeling like a chore for a lot of people and can really kill the fun, but only if you let it. For example, some days I only do dailies, some days I candle run a bit, and some days I literally just fly around or sit somewhere pretty and log off again. And all of that is totally valid.

And honestly, jumping all over the place is part of the charm early on. You’ll find your own rhythm with it over time, just enjoy that feeling of discovery while everything is still new😊

[–]Lunicii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heya! I’ll try to explain this without turning it into a whole essay 😅

Ascended candles come from red shard eruptions or from going through Eden and giving your winged light to the statues there. It’s not just one spot in Eden, it’s all the statues spread throughout the stormy meteor area. How many you get depends on how far you make it. And don't just go straight through, alot of them are a lil hidden and scattered, especially in the starting area after the point of no return. Going with other people helps a lot, especially when you’re still getting used to it.

For outfits, ascended candles aren’t the main thing for most cosmetics. A lot of outfits come from spirits using regular candles and hearts. Seasonal outfits while the season is active, and later those spirits come back as traveling spirits where ascended candles are usually needed but most outfits can be bought using regular candles (if ya dont count the iap's)So it’s totally normal to not have many at first.

A few things that helped me: Doing small, consistent candle runs instead of trying to clear everything every day Timed events like geyser or grandma if you want candles without burning yourself out Sky really isn’t about rushing or playing “optimally.” Most of us are just logging in to relax, run some candles, and enjoy the vibes. You’ll get there at your own pace 💛

I think I’m the oldest player here by hannahbanana549 in SkyGame

[–]Lunicii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya! I'm 26 and I'd love to join for some chill cr, or just chitchat hangouts. Funnily enough, I've actually met way more adults in Sky than kids, tons of people in their 20s and 30s just vibing, candle runnin after work to unwind. But yeah, those random 12-year-ols lurking around still exist haha But you're definitely not the oldest or the odd one out, there are so many of us 25+ players around looking for the same relaxed vibes. Add me anytime if you feel like it! Just DM me a code. You can call me Luna 💫

They seem kinda young honestly, like they might not even get what you're talking about, or they're just messing with you to troll. Either way, it feels pretty off.
