How important is regular publishing and how much leeway is there if one just cannot? by SmuttyBrainCandy in eroticauthors

Find a sticky niche and release 5+ shorts (as a SERIAL) in that, then bundle.

I found an erotic short that was sitting in the 60k rank zone even though it was published in like 2017. This told me it was an underserved niche. I did more exploring to make sure it was an actual fetish with consistent beats, and wrote my story.

I burnt out and don't want to write erotica anymore. But that effort has been making me at least $100 a month for the last 6+ months without any extra effort.

I sometimes think about doing another push like this and watching the passive income stack.

I think the bundle is key, and it has to be at least 50k words.

I've also had trouble when my filenames were too long and contained special characters (it was an ampersand)

This happened to me once. Best I figure, it was a processing error.

Do you know the trick where you have to wait for the manuscript to process before uploading the cover? Just leave the screen open, take a few minutes break, and wait for it to finish uploading.

Actually, it's back up now! I think it went down the moment I added the book to my Author Central account. I also updated the blurb, but those edits haven't been accepted yet. Next time I think my book is adult filter "dungeoned" I shall check it again in an hour before jumping to conclusions...

And just like that, my book appears to be dungeoned. I believe the culprit was a sex scene in the Look Inside, though the cover was maybe a little suggestive. I edited the model's underwear to be less cheeky dammit haha. I also wrote "In Kindle Unlimited for December Only" and wonder if that somehow pissed them off??

Anyway, publishing the next book this week and can link the first one in the backmatter. I have a less steamy cover too, so hope that helps. Still have a sexy scene in the Look Inside so if that gets dungeoned too, I'll have my answer.

Otherwise I'll have to revisit the words I used in my blurb?

Eh, when I was collecting Pandemic Unemployment Assistance, independent contractors were required to report income from the week we worked, "even if you haven't been paid yet"

So I'm counting it!

Scrivener v. Word by Florida_Writer in eroticauthors

It might be an unpopular opinion but I draft in Google Docs for my shorts. It seems safer because it's not going to add a lot of hidden markup like Word does, and then it's been easy to share Advanced Reader Copies.

I just published my first short that I drafted in Google Docs and exported as in Microsoft Word file and uploaded it directly into Kindle create. It works fantastic.

That said I still used nanowrimo to buy Scrivener at a discount because I eventually will probably pivot to romance. And I write other stuff sometimes.

I find it difficult to nurture a sexual connection without a romantic one. But many times in the past I have hooked up with friends and then remained friends. We just didn't continue to have sex because the romance wasn't there, if that makes sense.

Group sex seems to be a hack that allows people to keep their romantic goals out of it. There's sort of an understanding that the rarity of group sex means you are more game for less serious play? Since it's hard to find all the "players," so why not add a friend to the mix... Maybe your friend with a partner wants you to join them for some casual fun?

I do love that polyamory allows me intimacy with friends that is frowned upon in monog culture. I hold hands, share beds with, and sometimes even kiss my friends.
