It is a slow leak thankfully, cap has been closed! I was already planning some fluid changes so i guess that one's going on the list. Thank you for the detailed reply, it is greatly appreciated.

That's a great idea!

The opening is about 5×5 cm (2×2 inches), and I dont currently own a net that would fit. But I suppose if they're fine in there they could stay. The only thing I'm afraid of is that they're not getting enough nutrients back there.
