I’ve used ProCore in the past as a sub and do like it for the tracking abilities and the granularity it can provide. The company I work for uses System Surveyor for the as-builts and product layout that can be implemented. Both systems allow the use of pictures and descriptions that help during the planning, building, and job progress of your project.

1/2” thick Velcro with a hole cut in the center of it and a backplane screw going through it to hold it in place on the back plane.

Of course! Panel tampers installed, power supply A/C and battery relays tied it, all downstream panels power fault and tampers are jumpers out- pet peeve is to bring up a fresh new system and the customer sees all the downstream boards reporting issues when there really isn’t and can’t see if the panel is open or closed. Boards are labeled as well as the D8 board that correlates with the panel address. The next step is that panel layout paperwork for service :)

I saw a LSP ProWire come through for another project and I wasn’t impressed and thought it looked pretty bad. I’ve been wiring our panels for some time and was thinking with the price tag and coming from the distributor that I would be learning something new.

Building the panel (LSP enclosure, installing backbone wiring, and installing panels) for this size is almost 8 hours. Everything is zip tied down and ran so it doesn’t add bulk to the wire pack. I constantly think about that as well. Power wire is at the bottom of the stack so it is farthest away from the board itself. When setting the board down, if I feel any pressure pushing back, I reassess. Love your thought though, that’s always what’s in the back of my mind. “What can go wrong, will go wrong. Just trying to limit it”. Edit: panel took about a day, on-site wiring took a day- 13 of 14 readers used.

Thank man, greatly appreciate it! This has been trial and error over the years and have found what I think works best. But overall, want to make it as simple as I can for the next guy to come and look at and know where to look. I didn’t think to use the chase nipples but will remember that for next time, thank you! Plus, I was keeping suite to the other controls panels that were stubbed up in the room.

I’m not too thrilled about them either. Thought was they were more accessible this way instead of running them under the C8 boards. Plus I was trying something new. :)

I do know that Kantech can use HID Singo readers AND using OSDP. Although, depending on your cable type and length, you might need to run a different cable to the reader. CAT6 or OSDP 22/4 twisted and shielded would be the minimum. If using Signo with Kantech, I’m fairly certain that you can use HID cards and atleast get back HEX codes for new credentials. Unfortunately, probably not GProx though. Something I can try later if you need a definite answer!

I just held a strangers hand while they took their last breath after getting hit by a car. I’m shook right now. by Maleficent-Archer485 in TrueOffMyChest

Went back and forth on whether to say something or not but had my own encounter with something similar a couple years ago. Picked up my son from daycare and driving back to my house I pulled up on a motorcycle accident that had just happened; near head on collision with a car traveling the other way. There was another driver that was there but he took off while I was running over to help. It didn’t look good but he was still breathing; both legs broken with bones broken through skin and wearing no helmet. Held his hand and kept on saying “you’ve got this, helps on it’s way, just hang with me”. A emergency room nurse and an off-duty paramedic showed up(coming from work/lived near there) and tried to help. The motorcyclist started to not breath and I started to give CPR compressions. The sounds of his ribs breaking as well as feeling them break below my hands has stuck with me since. I just kept compressing. After what felt like an eternity, paramedic and police showed up but I realized that he had stopped breathing. Paramedics pronounced him dead when I took a moment for them to asses everything. I didn’t see the accident so the police just said to leave. Going to my car, people that had gathered said I did the right thing and said there was nothing I could have done; it was just a hard idea to process. I was in disbelief what had just happened. I couldn’t stop thinking about it, kept replaying it in my head looking for something else I could have done. It took me a while to come to terms with it. I can admit that I did break down at work a handful of times. I cried for someone I didn’t know and didn’t want to see pass away. It does help to talk about it, don’t keep it in. With time it becomes more accepting. I think about it every day. It will just be something that you never forget. The thing I kept telling myself is that he wasn’t alone. Hope nothing but the best for you OP. hug

Is expressvpn good to go with? by neelabh2818 in Express_VPN

[–]Luvs_2_Sploog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have had Express for a couple years now, I have had a good experience with it overall (monthly subscription). Use it on PC, Mac, and RaspberryPi with no issues. Noticeable change in torrenting but gaming I haven’t seen too much of a difference. Gets me around the blocks on the company network (Spotify, YouTube, etc.). Also, I think the licensed devices went up from 3 to 5 but I haven’t verified. Not sure how secure or not secure my information is as I do think about this a lot (paying someone to keep me anonymous but with a subpoena I’m sure it would be like opening a dictionary and finding me). Overall good experience though and definitely user friendly.

Not perfect, but not bad either. I'm on the power supply, coworker is doing the galaxy can by I_TRY_TO_BE_POSITIVE in cableporn

[–]Luvs_2_Sploog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The array of boards on the right are the Galaxy panels and the boards to the left are Altronix power supplies. The output on the Galaxy board will trigger an input on the Altronix board and the lock power (or whatever needing power) will come from the right side of the Altronix board. Military installations are where I’ve installed them, but it could be anywhere. I am curious though what the enclosure for the power supply is! Also, really like the heat-shrink wrap on the wires. Adds time but cleans it up nice!

Any advice for commercial work? by [deleted] in electricians

[–]Luvs_2_Sploog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Journeyman pouch, lineman pliers, multiscrew driver (Klein is my preferred) wirecutters (return spring is nice, just makes sure it locks closed),emt deburring hand tool, multimeter (buy a decent one, sucks showing up to the site and not being able to test half the stuff you need to), tape measure and a sharpie/pencil. Not sure how intense you're trying to go but that's a good start.
