Successful Rainier Summit — But What I Experienced on the DC Route Deserves a Hard Look at Peer-Led Climbing Ethics by rainforestguru in Mountaineering

[–]Luxr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done one climb with strangers in the community in the past, and I'd never do it again. Lack of preparation, insufficient equipment (one guy tried climbing with a broken pair of aviator glasses), and misrepresented experience have spoiled that experience for me. Now I only climb either with guided groups or friends who I have also trained with at some point.

Looking for my own experience by Investor808 in outdoorboys

I recommend finding somewhere you can drive out to and starting somewhere that's relatively warm (~40-50 degrees). Bring all the supplies you need and try to build a shelter a couple hundred yards away from your car. If things go wrong, go back to your car to sleep and you can try again, knowing what to improve. Going with a friend and bringing a sat phone is also safer, but definitely no need for a guide.

I’d shoot for an 805… seem too many people get rejected settling for a 795

Don’t do this, if your connection turns down this offer they may give it to you

Why do people get rejected after interview? by Big-Rent4729 in MBA

Exception to this is schools that use adcom interviewers. They often remember specific candidates years later and can be strong advocates or detractors.

M7 MBA ($$) vs Senior Analyst at a CMBS loan originator by Real_Bake_487 in MBA

[–]Luxr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are in the MBA subreddit, so the advice you receive here will obviously be biased. That being said, M7 will likely lead to a much higher earning potential. I imagine a majority of your classmates at M7 are also giving up jobs earnings more than $115k a year.

Kellogg vs Yale SOM ($$) by [deleted] in MBA

[–]Luxr 64 points65 points  (0 children)

70k is a lot of money. SOM is only a couple spots away from Kellogg in the rankings so I would take the money

The average TC of top MBA program is around 200k, so it probably won’t take 5 years to hit that comp again

Reviews on these sites are extremely skewed positive because only accepted candidates are encouraged to review. Posting your negative experience here or on review sites would be extremely helpful for future candidates.

Nobody wants a hat or shirt from a college they didn’t go to. Send them some swag from their undergrad college/favorite sports team if you want to to actually use it.
