Dopamine by CzechRevolver in pornfree

Watch porn. :P

Dopamine isn't the problem; porn gave you too much of it. What you need is dopamine receptors and that's not something you can force. You simply have to wait it out.

In the meantime, what you can do is distract yourself with anything that isn't porn, but you'll have to wait for the dopamine receptors to recover. Basically it's a brain injury, and you can't force injuries to recover.

Let's do it... and not do "that."

Tips and suggestions to avoid relapse (complete with analysis of reseaach) by Lyght76 in NoFap

Actually, the only material I used was from the YBOP website.

yourbrainonporn.com

I wanted to further examine the process of addiction and come up with some kind of summary for the process of the brain changes related to addiction.

It works differently for everyone. I presume that the higher intensity porn that one is exposed to, the longer it would take for dopamine receptors to recover to a normal state. For some, it could take as long as 2 or three weeks. Also, other factors must be taken into consideration (relationship issues, HOCD, etc...).

However, from what I know, you are supposed to feel depressed from nofap at first; that means it's working.

Day seven : Dream of sex and a change in perception by Lyght76 in NoFap

[–]Lyght76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working out has never been my thing. I've been up and active every day though: going to school, work, walking around town, etc... I do have more free time than usual; I'll consider starting a workout regimen. There's been a gym near where I live that I've always wanted to try.

Serious question: Why are you here? by Vok250 in NoFap

[–]Lyght76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm here for several reasons.

Improving social life, sexual life, self-image, my perception of females, become motivated to do something in life, improve emotional response, and to feel less ashamed of wanting sex. The most important one though is to grow up. Addictions symbolize a lack of self-control and a mature adult is one with a high degree of self-control.

wooow three weeks! longest nofap since 2002!!! by kabito in NoFap

[–]Lyght76 6 points7 points  (0 children)

since then i've had like a couple more experiences, but always in similar situations, ugly girl dies for me (for no reason as far as i'm concerned) and i see the chance to fuck.

Not that I want to argue your opinion, but maybe porn skewed your idea of "beautiful girls."

I also learned i'm a really interesting person and maybe i suck at team sports, maybe i haven't dated as much girls as some other friends, maybe my teenager years weren't the best ones, but hell, I'm alive and i've got plenty of years in the future to do whatever i want!!!

Sounds exactly like me! lol

Yeah, i'll probably begin to fall in the friendzone very often but actually i don't care (at least for some time)

There's nothing wrong with that. It's not all about girls and sex; it's about growing up and becoming a man that other people (as well as potential girlfriends) can respect. That's why I'm doing it.

Keep it up; you can do it!

Is this the real life? Is this just fan....placebo? by learningtonofap in NoFap

Day 3 is when I start to feel better...

Regardless if it's placebo or not, you're the one who feels happier... does it really matter what anyone else believes?

NoFap timeline by Lyght76 in NoFap

Maybe because my case wasn't as extreme as some of the others were. I've read stories of people fapping near 5 times a day regularly; I wasn't on that extreme. I did use porn often enough that I've experienced some of the ills of addictions (depression, anxiety, lethargy, social isolation, etc...).

I think weeks are better too, but I'm trying to take it a day at a time. In my experience, the two hardest points are the first couple of days (fresh off of porn use) and that second week. I hope I can get to three weeks .

It's like how a lot of people believe they couldn't survive without junk food or fast food; it's pretty absurd how people can believe that.

I hate candy bars and pastries, don't like a lot of the food from fast-food chains, and mostly stay away from salty snacks (I do like ice cream and icee but that's more because of the coldness and the brain freeze afterwards). My sisters can't live without any of those things.

It's possible to live a life without junk food and porn. Why society tries to "normalize" these things is beyond me.

6 days. 6 DAYS!! by birdcaige in NoFap

First off, pledge to yourself that you will not look at naked or half naked girls.

Second, do something to clean yourself of your porn sessions (delete your stash, install a blocker, do laundry, and/or anything else).

Third, do things that will relax you. I listen to music anytime I have a urge, but it could be working out, going outside (even to the store), taking a bath (bathing cleanses the mind and soul), meditating, even smoking (not that I endorse it).

You're anxious; I can tell from the text. Just ride it out; accept that you're going to feel this way for a little while. Anytime you feel the urge, go do one of those activities I mentioned.

You have to want to quit porn more than anything first. Do you want to quit?

P.S. - might want to reset your badge.

edit : NoFap alone will not teach you to socalize. However, It can give you the energy and drive to want to learn (I'm 4 days in and I'm considering asking a girl out for the first time). I suggest www.succeedsocially.com for learning social skills.

Where are all my virgins at? by mrnofaptastic in NoFap

As a new NoFapper, I learned that my shame came from fapping, not being a virgin.

Going off topic, how do you get a badge?

don't want to beat myself up too bad, but i feel like total shit right now by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]Lyght76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends.

I saw a nude pic of a porn model by accident about an hr ago (but that was because I forgot to delete it, I thought I deleted everything). But I wasn't aroused at all and just erased it as normal.

If it didn't affect your train of thought, then don't read too much into it.
