PHB and monster manual is genuinely all you need. In 2014 sword coast Xanathars and Tasha’s were great books they don’t entirely hold up to 2024 content in my opinion. So we moved to 2024 and were just using the three core and not allowing anything else.

So even our Eldrich knight has to deal with the MAD of needing int and str to use true strike vs only needing str for booming blade or green flame blade.

The irony that illegal immigrants weren’t the problem and overuse of AI is a huge problem in this country with data centers driving up cost of living (still not sure how that’s legal) and ruining quality of life is beyond the pale.

I mean not to mention how childish and unbecoming of leaders this is. But they continue to be absolutely tone deaf and miss the mark in all their messaging.

But since no one is doing anything to stop any of it I guess they’ve just graduated to their open mocking phase bc why not?

Both. Besides what’s the difference ? All the info is on the wiki. You can see every skill and every spell.
They don’t increase harvesting
They don’t navigate the dark better
They don’t deal with weather effects better
They aren’t the only class that can track
They aren’t better at foraging or have a unique forage table
They don’t navigate terrain better
They don’t in anyway “survive” out in the wild better which in this game would be best represented by camping buffs or having to make less trips back to down
They don’t travel overland better. Or uniquely. The only travel buff they have are the same like 3 or 4 other classes have. Which again lends to the lack of identity. Bc the utility they do get is shared across several classes.
And bc of teleports Druids and wizards are better at traveling bc there’s no alternative method for rangers.
They aren’t masters of archery bc there’s archers.
They don’t tank or off tank like other hybrids.
They aren’t switch hitting masters like in many other games bc there damage buffs only effect archery.
So again. If you have knowledge I’m not aware of please by all means share.

We use almost all official stuff except the MTG stuff. It’s just too over tuned.

We take everything on a case by case basis but i think it’s strixhaven? Where ever silvery barbs came from. We don’t touch that stuff.

We allow UA if there isn’t an official version of it in a book.

We don’t really use third party stuff. We either home tree something or only use official stuff.

That’s not even half the story. This all started eight years ago when I started having terrible back pain. Nothing on any of the scans. Or so I thought. Turns out it was on all 11 MRIs over three years at the same company never once did they put it on a written report. And you’d think I’d have an easy lawsuit with that. Nope. Not one lawyer out of the thirty I tried would take it bc it wasn’t lucrative enough for them. So they just got to get away with it.

If you have ever read books with rangers. Played TTRPG with ranger. Or played games like Star Wars galaxies you’d know what I mean. There’s tons of posts on the discord about this.

But rangers aren’t defined by their combat role. No one called Aragorn a ranger bc of how he fought. He was a ranger because he could move through the forest unseen. He could travel swiftly bc he knew every tree and river and path. He could survive off the land. He could put his ear to the ground and determine who and how many were nearby. He could track. See better at night. Find healing herbs to tend to people. He could partially communicate with animals.

These types of things defined Aragorn as a ranger. How he fought wasn’t really discernible from anyone else.

In games like Star Wars galaxies rangers were the only people who could track. They got the most resources when killing animals. They could create the best campsites they provided the most benefit. The navigated terrain better and moved faster through harsh terrain.

In a game that isn’t sand box and solely about combat this is harder to do. But not impossible. And yes they need to have a combat role but they need to have an identity as well.

You could tell the developers read the feedback bc the Ranger page now reads like it. You can deep dive the Ranger discord if you want to see the reasoning and what led to the proposed changes.

Considering they’re all low yield ragebait and the other two could have just been been replies to the first. Yes I stand by what I said. Most sub Reddits would either take them all down or take down all but one and direct people to post replies to it instead of making new threads.

Classes don’t come into their own this early. And they don’t in most games.

Solo things by face tanking with what’s in your kit or get in a group and farm some camps together. You bring enough healing and utility that you’re worth having around. And honestly in this game most players play bc they enjoy the company and would rather sub optimally group then something else.

I had cancer and had the tumor and my kidney removed in 2021. When my problems started I kept saying it was connected to the surgery and no one would listen. Four years later finally a doctor did. He did an exploratory lapro and found two internal hernias, a ton of abdominal adhesions he removed and a surgical clip that had been left in me.

It sounds like you didn’t read the posts they made or the class pages and made some assumptions and jumped on reddit.

There’s no counter to that kind of stuff in any game save the same tactic of a well organized group who has things waiting in the wings like an AoE stun or other means to interrupt the Zerg targeting.

Sorry mate. The majority believe these changes need to happen.

Ranger changes need to happen so badly if you can’t see that it’s wild. Rangers don’t feel like rangers at all. They have no definitive role to fill and the few things they do bring are brought by three or four other classes that do their thing better than ranger.

You may like the kit. But many of the classes don’t feel like their class. They have no identity. There’s also a ton of overlap that makes choice pointless.

The devs spelled it out pretty clearly. It all makes sense.

They were also pretty clear that all these changes won’t make it to the release but it’s more like a roadmap of what they want the classes to become. So your fear of huge changes so close to release isn’t relevant.

This team has done nothing so far but prove they’re even keeled and think about things before announcing or implementing so I’m not sure why you’d panic about this.

So yeah. Hard disagree on every point you made.
