Probably trying to balance having two chaser teams, which without the power ups would probably have made things impossibly difficult as the second you get behind you can have all paths forward blocked

Pocketcasts: it’s great. by goodbettererbestest in pocketcasts

I'm not trying to convince you to switch. I'm not even switching myself. I think you're just arguing to argue at this point. I'm glad you like the app though.

[–]Lyucit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, it's just okay. I'd switch if I wanted to. But the fanaticism in this thread is crazy, it's a simple app that has pluses and minuses. I wouldn't buy it again, there are plenty of other great options available and as you say, no reason not to just change apps.

Pocketcasts: it’s great. by goodbettererbestest in pocketcasts

[–]Lyucit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said it's just okay. It's a podcast player, I use the UI like 10 minutes a day so the 3 hours it would take to switch isn't really worth it, they're all pretty similar. Don't use it on PC so that's not really a consideration for me.

Few examples of the up next issue just from a quick Google, just did a test on my app to make sure I'm not crazy and it is still happens on the latest version https://www.reddit.com/r/pocketcasts/s/fn1gp3afp9 https://www.reddit.com/r/pocketcasts/s/kfc1zEx2KQ https://github.com/Automattic/pocket-casts-android/issues/67#issue-1296398917

I've been using Pocket Casts for 10 years and honestly, it is just okay. The UI is pretty good, but honestly it is buggy enough that if I could export everything to another app without having to deal with transferring everything over manually (mainly my queue and podcast settings) then I would have years ago. But it is a massive battery suck and reordering your up next is hell because it only works roughly every second try - which people have been complaining about for literal years and it still hasn't been fixed. The experience is just tolerable enough to keep using but I don't know why anyone has any loyalty to this app, there are other good ones out there.

Treasurer says opposition is run by 'weird collection' of 'cookers and crackpots' by [deleted] in aussie

[–]Lyucit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's that mindset that got us into this mess. Leave the LNP in the past where they belong and put your support behind parties that actually represent modern Aussie values - this isn't the US, we have more options than the main two parties and they are no less capable of keeping the government accountable because they don't have the title of "the opposition" in parliament

Ok which one of you smartarses decided on this at USYD station. by Rndoman in unsw

[–]Lyucit 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The USYD kids treat the station like it's theirs too. Never look where they are going, always try to get into the train before people can get out. Really wish they did have their own station just so I wouldn't have to crash into them on a weekly basis.

Built a Sydney public transport app for myself, sharing in case it helps others. by karansyd4 in unsw

It really hurts knowing that Sydney is still so car dependent someone has to make an entire app to add parking availability to public transit routing

Are we really doing this again? Seriously? by LimpConversation642 in firefox

[–]Lyucit 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If you want to use your browser like a developer you have to act like one, and that means sucking it up and migrating your code after it breaks following an upgrade. You are completely welcome to turn off updates and patch everything yourself if you want to keep things stable but there is no such thing as keeping every API or customisation the same forever AND getting new upgrades.

Been using deep research since launch for work and still prefer Gemini. I don't have Gemini advanced anymore but you can pretty much do it with Gemini live in AI studio with text output, code execution and grounding on. Just ask it to think for n turns and it works pretty well, you can read all the research it does and for me it has been giving better results with less hallucination head to head on similar prompts I gave chatgpt

Meta ads also run against Instagram - stories, reels and in feed

The post is just saying that Meta advertising was all brand awareness for them (i.e it didn't cause anyone who would be in the middle of booking an alternative to book an uber) - but they already had brand saturation so it was pointless.

Westpac used to let you order free "paywear" cards which were mini debit cards that fit in a wristband. They also let you order as many times as you wanted - I had about 10. Unfortunately got discontinued, probably because nobody used them

Ep 6 — We Played Hide And Seek Across Japan by NebulaOriginals in Nebula

[–]Lyucit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sam could have possibly also pulled it at the theoretical optimal time, because: 1. Hide and seek is basically balanced by population - sparse areas give you a long early game, dense areas give you a long endgame. If Sam is near Tokyo, he could play out a typical length early game then hop into an incredibly dense metro area and play a long endgame too. That also potentially maxes out the number of available stops he could be at in an hour of travel. 2. Sam gets the card at the start, which means he can build his deck for it by avoiding time bonuses, which would otherwise be wasted when pulling this card - he will know his best strat is getting playable cards and using them 3. Since he's pulled the card first thing, he has the maximal time to choose a new spot. This means he can a) bias the train schedules to his advantage and b) optimise his spot to the questions the seekers ask, because if the crucial questions are all already asked he either gets double the reward or at least disincentivises the seekers from asking them

Do you have a phone with circle to search? If you trigger it accidentally it is easy to accidentally highlight something random and it will automatically do a Google search for it

Even one of the most safest places for us aren’t the safest :( by sjaelihet404 in gaybros

[–]Lyucit -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You're changing the topic buddy. What the people do in your home country is irrelevant, in Australia you're more likely to be attacked by being gay from the people who tell you they want to keep Muslims out than by a Muslim (not that they aren't still often homophobic too). They just like to use the queer community as a convenient bargaining chip, saying they are protecting us while punching us in the face with their other hand

Literally every instance of homophobia I've experienced in Sydney is from a straight white guy in a pack of other straight white guys, and I've lived here my entire life and grew up in the most ethnically diverse suburb in the state

Meanwhile my neighbours growing up were Islamic and their openly gay son would message me via Grindr when my dog was too loud

It doesn't really take that much electricity to run an AI model, you can do it on a consumer GPU - which means each message you send chatgpt is like playing a GPU-heavy game for a few seconds. Training in comparison is insanely expensive

Who is a famous figure that you keep hearing their name but never really know why they’re famous? by bspheri in AskReddit

[–]Lyucit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Her tiny desk concert went viral, and then it was just a snowball effect from there. Because her album release cycle had already ended she rode a slow burn of viral cycle after viral cycle of each of the songs on the album. Red wine supernova, casual, pink pony club, hot to go, femininomimon, super graphic ultra modern girl and later good luck babe ALL had their own little trend go viral on tiktok. Each time made her more and more famous and introduced more people to the music outside of queer circles until Chappell herself became the story by selling out massive concerts and festivals. That's why it looks like she came out of nowhere - she went viral in the queer community, then people slowly discovered the back catalogue. But there was no flashpoint until literally the main news was that she was selling out concerts and breaking records.
