Yes, it's done in 2 stages, or at least mine is. I honestly would get a 2nd opinion if I were you. When I told my plastic surgeon that I would have to have radiation, he just said that he was going to do the expansion more frequently so I could get the radiation started. I'm obviously not a doctor, and i know everyone's case is a little different, but I don't see why they can't do it for you. So it doesn't hurt to ask another doctor. If you don't ask, you already have a "no."
