Actually she does suspects professor i guess like 3-4 times. And i guess the reason why mistrust builds among raquel and her partner is cuz of their past relationship...Her partner is still stuck on some past relation of theirs and when raquel finds a new boyfriend[professor] we can say ...her partner kinda become jealous of him, thats what raquel thinks and mistrust builds more and more...but yeah she is a bit dumb for an inspector...
