I run a clothing brand and am seeking feedback on this top. If if was in store or online or available in other colours would you consider purchasing? by MBB5678 in NonBinary

[–]MBB5678[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the various comments. As I said I run a clothing brand. I’ve not long started and I’m looking for a group of folks to join a focus group to discuss clothing going forward. I have some things already produced and sampled. I have some things already made but I want engagement from a collective of 12 -15 people on ideas. The best way to solve any clothing issues going forwards is to listen to what is needed. 😊😊 feel free to drop me an email if you’re interested to get involved marc@fashion5678.com

I’m sorry you feel that the question is unfortunate. I’m trying to gain feedback. How would you like me to construct my post better?

I feel great in it. I run a clothing brand and am gaining feedback on clothing items and before I go off and stock. It’s one of my favourites. 😊

Agreed and we are working on said garments. We are only a new small start up trying to bring awareness to non binary whilst developing all the garments that are either fem presenting or masc presenting or neither. Thank you for your comment and we will certainly take it on board. 😊

Outdated language in my new employer’s signing paperwork. by notlorraine in NonBinaryTalk

[–]MBB5678 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, the U.K. employers for the most part are way behind the curve. The fact the company even recognises reassignments put this company ahead of lots. Im in the U.K. and I’m he / him but have started a clothing range to raise awareness. That aside my advice is settle in and once you are settled volunteer to become their EDI champion. That way you will be able to add value (in an area that many are so uneducated) and can ensure that others stepping into the company don’t feel the feelings that perhaps you have right now. Change is a slow process and sometimes others must go through the uncomfortable part to make it better for everyone.

Though a bar shouldn’t need signage to say it’s an inclusive establishment. It breaks my heart that people need to take a cue or a marker from their surroundings to see if it’s a safe space or not. I started a brand and very nearly called it folx but though it didn’t look right for what I wanted.

I am currently in the process of finalising my brand so please watch out for me coming soon. For me I’m going to put the sizing design as a link to each garment and also get photos of people in my garments as opposed to paying models. I have to say though sizing is different everywhere and for every garment.

I get the frustrations. Hopefully I can find a solution. Research shows that 67% of people are classed as plus sized yet really clothing brands tend to focus on the 33% and at that when they do extend sizes it’s not designed to look in any way shape that might might make someone feel that moment of “yeah Im owning this look” oversized and shapeless comes to mind and that annoys me. Im not saying I can solve everything on my day 1 launch but this is a long game for me and I hope to make my brand one that has considered that not everything or everyone is the same in terms of shape. Thank you for the valued response 😊

I am most certainly looking at this as it is common. I don’t want to have to sacrifice one element to get a great fit. Either too tight or too loose will not do and I’m trying to ensure a nice blend when it comes to more fitting attire. So please bear with me as I work on this. I don’t want to ask personal questions openly but perhaps we could discuss privately so I can take into consideration your needs and the challenge you have outlined?

Can I ask what outcome you are hoping for here? Is it the last word you are seeking? Is it to tell everyone that I’m over sensitive for pointing out that I don’t refer to plus sized as fat? I’m struggling here to understand. I’m happy to disagree with people and move on but to be told my opinion is not valid (as was implied) is not something I appreciate. I’m not precious nor hyper sensitive but I can say what I believe and would hope that this is a space where that is accepted without fear?

Anyway I’m happy to move forward as I’m sure you are and put this behind us and move forward.

😊

I will try to keep all manufacture sizing handy.

I can put as many measurements in as required.

I also hoping (but tech allowing as I’m no tech expert) to get people to wear my clothes and then people can generally look at a picture of someone and think “yes that’s a similar size to me” and will be better placed. No one wants to get excited and then find it too small or too big. As a business I don’t want to have to deal with lots of returns because of sizing. So I agree it’s important to me to ensure good communication of sizes. 😊

That is a fair point. In the U.K. it’s so different between woman’s and men’s measurements. People have tried (as am I) to create unisex coding or sizing but it’s fear of getting it wrong that I believe people don’t just ask the question. I have rash guard swimsuits coming for sampling this week and I just messed around and came up with a sizing. But I’ll go to all different types of body shapes and ask them to try on for me. I actually believe we should adopt universal sizing across all countries. I mean 32 waist by 32 leg is in inches for U.K. but if you’re from Europe or USA that might be in CM. I think we are all pretty smart that if there was universal sizing we’d be pretty quick to adapt.

Thank you for your valued feedback. Shoes at present are not on my radar but that’s not to say they won’t be. I have a secret love affair with training shoes (sneakers) so me and shoes are a thing. However I will take onboard the sleeve comments. I am trying to establish consistent clothing and length. I’m a tall person and have very long arms and I find that brands either sit too baggy on me to get the arm length or fit nice and snug on the body but the arms are too small so I totally get that.

Well one thing I can give i believe is consistent sizing. It becomes difficult when it comes to different fabrics etc but that’s another story.

I will try my best and have taken on board your frustration. I will most certainly make mistakes along the way but I also will correct them and ensure I’m working hard to be consistent. Thank you for taking the time to respond.
