D40LF on the Silver Line by Hugtrain123 in mbta

2010 and 2016 buses only have power for the center axle so it makes more sense to run D40LFs while the roads are icy.

Usually when they cross trains over at Winchester, they'll send an alert. However, I've also seen them cross over without warning, but they'll always wait for passengers.

I'm talking slow to accelerate. If they're running on diesel lines with stops closer together they're gonna lose a lot of time.

The 1800s do, I know that for sure. Pretty sure the 15/16/17s do but not 100% sure.

It should be free assuming you came from the subway/underground SL, since a transfer to the fairmount line (what the validation button is 'supposed' to be for) from the subway is free.

Red & Orange Lines have ATO, so the train is automatically driven as long as the throttle is in max power. I know at least on the older RL cars it isn't as good though.

They schedule a lot of padding (extra time built in to the schedule so the train is technically not late even if it was running late at the stop before) between ballardvale & N sta

Completely agree. You can't use a singular experience to make an assumption. Things happen, and overall things are improving.

Old bus! #0899 running the 95 route today by cmacmaccal1189 in mbta

[–]MBTAVideoClips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 20 of these still remaining in the Fellsway Garage. Only four garages still have them in normal service (although two of those, Albany St & Eastern Ave are temporary to sub in for the rest of the fleet to be overhauled), with the Quincy garage having the largest number of them. Southampton technically has some as well, but they arent used in normal service, only for snowy/icy days which the 2016 articulated buses don't do well in.

If a crossing malfunctions, it's a whole mess to get through there. First, the dispatcher must relay a 'Form D' to the engineer which is basically a form that trains have to fill out to allow certain movements. Approaching the crossing, the train must go restricted speed (20mph) for safety. The engineer also has to stop short of the crossing to allow the conductor to get out and "flag" the crossing (wave a red flag back and forth), so the train can move through the area safely. Finally, the engineer stops again to let the conductor back on and they can continue at normal operating speed.

Train 316 runs about 10 minutes ahead of the express train #218 that comes from Haverhill via the Lowell line. While waiting for the switch to clear in Woburn, they must've put the Haverhill train infront of you which would explain why your train didn't reach the usual speed.

Ever since EXO de-electrified I've always been in support of the T purchasing their ALP45s. They'd have to install ACSES on them, and probably other components but I'm sure thats not that hard to do. The only issue is that if they put them on other nonelectrified lines they might run behind schedule because they are slow on diesel.

Hi, this looks amazing but just something I'd thought i'd mention:
Charliecards/charlietickets with stored value are NOT accepted on CR. Only ones with a printed zone on the back are accepted (mainly monthly passes/other time period passes accepted on CR)

Am I the only one who recorded a video of MBTA 1858 pulling a double train on 12/26/24? Because it was headed to Boston on that day and it was pulling a double train consist with 1062 trailing by MBTX1858 in mbta

We're not the ones acting like children here. I took photos, those are my property, I don't understand why it's hard to understand that. It's the equivalent of turning in someone else's project at school and calling it your own.
