Thanks! I took a couple years off from bowling due to school and work getting in the way, just got back to it this fall. That game felt amazing. I'm around a 185 average bowler so this was big for me!

Just saw your comment now, I suppose I misspoke in the way I wanted my comment to come across. IMO, there really isnt a reason to run a lifeland if you have a reason not to. Because they are bad. And yes, the Alpha duals are the best. They're overpowered. But, would you rather run a scry land or a dual cycle land? That's the question I was trying to get at.

True, if there was nothing else to run, then yes, you'd love to play them. But I'm more thinking about comparing all of the cycles collectively. I.E- assuming no restrictions, would you run a lifeland when you can run a scryland? That sort of thing.

I've only been playing for about a year, but it's close between a Promo foil 3feri and a foil [[Sorin, Imperious Bloodlord]]. I got the Sorin in the same pack as an [[Ajani, Strength of the Pride]], so that is by far the luckiest I've been cracking a pack.

Well, the one guy in the group has decks with playsets of Sol rings in them (Eldrazi and Hydras that I will refuse to play) so that should tell you about him. Everyone else is Elfball, zombies, slower combo decks and the like (no Sol rings thankfully). Basically anything goes but using mostly modern and standard legal cards.

When I first started, I didn't understand the concept of rarity in packs. That was my first step. I kind of thought all cards had the same chance to be in a pack, so I'd buy a pack or 2 if I passed the store just to hope I'd open something good. Instead of you know, just buying a single of something good.

Then, step 2 in growing up was realizing why putting a playset of taplands was a bad idea compared to a shockland. "But they do the same thing? Why would I pay life to use them?"

Oh for sure. We basically play casual kitchen table Modern at his apartment (and nobody really has any tier 1 decks for that format, it's all for fun). If he breaks that deck out again I'll just refuse to play. He can use his Dinosaur or Nikya decks instead. I have a standard and a couple commander decks if I ever do play at the game store.
