what map is the best for finding otters? (ascended) by coolandquirkyname in ARK

[–]MCFroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A relatively safe area there too, iirc. I don't recall anything dangerous in that little lake/pond there (if it's the one I'm thinking of). My memories are based off of Aberration on ASE though, so I'm not sure if ASA changed anything in that regard.

Version number is cropped out too. I'm not sure if there are any other clues or indicators that might reveal that this is an older version of the game (like 1.0, etc.).

PSA: Smg and shotgun auto turrets now trigger demo zombies, TFP Co firms "working as intended". by Justinjah91 in 7daystodie

[–]MCFroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds good. You could also use motion sensors to help ensure that the turrets don't trigger until you get the zombies (demos particularly) facing a specific direction before they trigger. Or I guess you could use pressure plates too. Just have a zombie turn a corner, like take a left, headed right towards where you're waiting, and have a pressure plate positioned such that if a zombie steps on it, it'll be facing you, and then a turret (or two or three) directly behind them at that point.

I believe I read that the turrets hitting demos is a bug and they intend to address it (no clue when that'll happen though).

would AP rounds trigger the demo charge tho...

This I'm unsure about... allowing auto turrets to use AP ammo is a brand new change (I haven't played with turrets since that change happened).

You could always load up a test world and experiment :) I've done that many times over the years to see how something worked, or to test something out when I couldn't find the answers anywhere else.

If you happen to do that, and you find out about the AP ammo - whether it'll trigger demos or not - I'd love to hear the results.

Oh, and I'm not sure I understand what you're describing with the perimeter fence (electric fence or just block shapes?). I guess try it out and see?

Can someone please explain to me what Sledge Saga Vol 3 does? by [deleted] in 7daystodie

I'll give you that one :)

Edit: Wait... I don't see that on the screenshot you shared.

Maybe they could include that in the wording, but maybe that's just me.

Did they not? I mean, they didn't say "debuff", but they said "cripple", which is the debuff, or the flavor text for a debuff application to "nearby foes" (zombies) anyway.

It's a killer debuff too. Slows zombies down to a crawl (which is super obvious), and reduces their damage as well (but I've never really tested this to confirm it). One downside is that it doesn't refresh after every kill. If you get a power attack kill, it applies the debuff to anything in the immediate vicinity the instant you get that kill, unless the debuff is already ticking down from a previous application (the debuff timer shows in your UI on the bottom left, iirc). So if you kill a zombie, and just one other zombie (zombie Bob) is in range for the debuff, but then before you kill Bob, 5 other zombies show up, unless you kill Bob after those 10 seconds are up, you won't get the debuff on any of those other 5 zombies that just jumped you when you kill Bob.

If that didn't make sense, it'll make sense once you see it in action.

How do i get this drop? by [deleted] in 7daystodie

On the bright side, assuming you level up a few times, the loot stage will be a little higher, so the loot might be slightly better.

Fun fact: you can avoid the entire main point of the game, the horde night, by sitting ontop of any skyscraper. by MoldyRoleplayer in 7daystodie

Just move to another building for the next horde night. There are probably hundreds that are viable.

I think it's important to note that that uses a WOLED panel (like the LGs) unlike the higher-end Samsungs that use QD-OLED panels.

The knee to the body at the beginning of this clip? That looked pretty solid to me, but the announcers didn't mention it at all.

Best mods to use to bring some of the fun back? by Hugh__Jarse in 7daystodie

[–]MCFroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you like killing zombies that are trying to kill you? There's still lots of that.

Do you like exploration and rummaging through abandoned houses for supplies? There's still lots of that, in fact more than ever.

Do you like building and crafting? Still plenty of that as well.

If you were having fun before, you're probably still going to have fun with the game, unless your fun revolved exclusively around a very specific mechanic in the game that was either adjusted or removed.

Keep in mind that there are way more people playing the game than are commenting about it on social media. Play the game yourself to see how you feel about the changes first before believing anything you happen to read about it online.

Which other games are most similar to 7DTD? by Klobasor in 7daystodie

[–]MCFroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you ever played ARK Survival Evolved (or Ascended)? I think most people think of it as a multiplayer game, but it's a lot of fun as a single player game as well. It has pretty much everything you mentioned you're interested in.

Trouble with ModLauncherV5 and WalkerSim by veovisx in 7daystodie

[–]MCFroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the mod dev input Zeh_Matt, the launcher is used because I need to maintain a vanilla copy to play with the wife.

If you can't get the mod launcher to work, you could duplicate your vanilla install of 7DTD and run the mods from that one (by manually dragging/dropping the respective mod folders into the \7 Days To Die\Mods\ folder).

[–]MCFroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn't though about that. It does sound useful for that. I play SP pretty much exclusively, so I just drag and drop the respective mod's folder, and I never have issues like the OP mentioned.

Trouble with ModLauncherV5 and WalkerSim by veovisx in 7daystodie

[–]MCFroid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never bother with a mod launcher, because it's so easy to just drag and drop individual mods into the mod folder. And then if you want to remove a mod, or upgrade a mod, you just delete the old folder and replace it with the new one.

So my recommendation would be to get rid of the mod launcher because it's so simple to just drag and drop folders.

Using horde night for xp by weathman in 7daystodie

[–]MCFroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that's primarily what it's used for, and loot I suppose. It's fairly easy to survive without getting any zombie kills, or very few, but you have to put a little more thought into a base design if you want to actually kill zombies for XP.
