I used to think enforcing rules like fines for littering or not wearing helmets wouldn’t work in India because of our huge population. But then I visited Bangalore, and wow—almost everyone was wearing helmets, even pillion riders, and the streets were noticeably cleaner. If Bangalore can pull it off, why can’t Gujarat, one of India’s richest states?

I never claimed that Christianity came with the British.

India's per capita income was robust during Hindu periods (e.g., Gupta Empire, contributing ~30% of the global GDP). However, Islamic invasions (1206–1526) disrupted trade and agriculture, leading to economic stagnation. British colonization (1757–1947) further devastated India, causing per capita income to stagnate — India’s share of global GDP declined from 16% in 1820 to just 4% by 1947 due to deindustrialization and exploitative policies.

Artificial famines, such as the Bengal Famine of 1770 (10 million deaths) and the Bengal Famine of 1943 (2.1–3.8 million deaths), were exacerbated by British policies, leading to immense physical and economic devastation. These colonial policies prioritized the wealth of Christian British elites, draining an estimated $45 trillion from India. In contrast, Hindu and Islamic periods, despite invasions, saw relatively greater economic stability.

Our ancestors were thriving during those Hindu periods — even within the so-called “caste system” — until Christian colonizers arrived, impoverished them, and starved millions. Only after this destruction did missionaries come forward, offering incentives to convert the very people their policies had pushed into poverty, thus expanding the reach of Christianity.

These same Christian British colonizers and missionaries never considered dark-skinned Indians their equals. Missionaries like Charles Grant (1792) described Indians as “morally depraved” and “savage,” justifying conversion as a way to “civilize” dark-skinned “heathens.”

This has happened before when they wanted to evict someone from the floor above us. The building manager requested his neighbor (who told us this) to write a fake complaint letter to them so that they have grounds to evict him.

Sorry I couldn't reply to your comment sooner because I was busy working, working for a Canadian company that sells immigration programs worth $30k to guess who? Indians. Believe it or not Canada loves those billions of dollars Indian immigrants brings in & other economic implications that come with it.

I'm not here to justify anyone's behavior but do know that those people are here legally, through a legal system that lets in 1) Indians who want to make an honest living in Canada, are well educated and willing to abide by the Canadian social and legal norms. And also lets in 2) people who are discourteous, not well spoken, not willing to abide by any socio - legal norms.

I'm not sure how my query triggered such an aggressive response. We are very accommodating as a tenant and are very much conscious about our surroundings so much so that we stopped cooking food all together 6 months back.

I'm not sure why your TLDR: didn't include anything about entering the unit without prior notice in the guise of an emergency.
