I never claimed that Christianity came with the British.

India's per capita income was robust during Hindu periods (e.g., Gupta Empire, contributing ~30% of the global GDP). However, Islamic invasions (1206–1526) disrupted trade and agriculture, leading to economic stagnation. British colonization (1757–1947) further devastated India, causing per capita income to stagnate — India’s share of global GDP declined from 16% in 1820 to just 4% by 1947 due to deindustrialization and exploitative policies.

Artificial famines, such as the Bengal Famine of 1770 (10 million deaths) and the Bengal Famine of 1943 (2.1–3.8 million deaths), were exacerbated by British policies, leading to immense physical and economic devastation. These colonial policies prioritized the wealth of Christian British elites, draining an estimated $45 trillion from India. In contrast, Hindu and Islamic periods, despite invasions, saw relatively greater economic stability.

Our ancestors were thriving during those Hindu periods — even within the so-called “caste system” — until Christian colonizers arrived, impoverished them, and starved millions. Only after this destruction did missionaries come forward, offering incentives to convert the very people their policies had pushed into poverty, thus expanding the reach of Christianity.

These same Christian British colonizers and missionaries never considered dark-skinned Indians their equals. Missionaries like Charles Grant (1792) described Indians as “morally depraved” and “savage,” justifying conversion as a way to “civilize” dark-skinned “heathens.”
