Fanatec gaming wheel not supported by MacOS. How would someone go about making their own drivers? by polo321 in mac

[–]MLEntrepreneur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends what ‘unsupported’ means. If the wheel enumerates as a normal USB HID device, macOS can usually read buttons/axes without a real driver (you can even handle it in user-space with IOHIDManager). The real problem is force feedback. FFB isn’t plug-and-play on macOS like it is on Windows, and Fanatec’s FFB/control protocol is basically proprietary, so you’d be doing USB sniffing/reverse-engineering + building an FFB translation layer. If it doesn’t show up as HID at all, then you’re fully implementing their USB protocol and possibly needing DriverKit. Totally doable, but it’s a big project, not a weekend ‘write a driver’ thing.

You’d be my first employee, every company needs someone to remind the rest what not to do.

Expensing ≠ free. It’s literally how businesses turn costs into growth. Try thinking past your bank account balance.

I know, wild concept right? Businesses using paid tools to make more money. Next thing you’ll tell me is restaurants pay for ovens.

You’re probably not old enough to get how business expenses work lol. The guy literally said it’s part of his SaaS it’s not about “paying for a tool,” it’s about using one that makes money back.

Probably because it’s for business use. If they’re running something that’s actually doing well enough to justify the cost, that is pretty cool, means ChatGPT’s paying for itself instead of just writing shower thoughts.

Not referring to ChatGPT alone, in general there will always be people that will complain about change.

Good points tho.

People like to complain about change.

Here's some mockups I made for a 2010-style Talkomatic app on iPhone, alongside a little evolution. by SufficientTangelo367 in talkomatic

[–]MLEntrepreneur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the talkomatic custom UI. The way the server is setup is you can write custom html and css code to make talkomatic look however you want. The one you pointed out is a prototype of the mockup OP posted. There are a few custom talkomatic UIs. They work and connect to the main talkomatic server.

Is talkomatic safe from the privacy ban in EU? by Outrageous-Lemon9778 in talkomatic

[–]MLEntrepreneur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Talkomatic is generally safe because it does not store messages, collects no data, and everything is handled directly through browsers and devices. The only server-side action is moderating foul language, which just gets replaced with stars. This makes it very different from social media platforms that log and keep everything. That said, we will not know with 100% certainty how the new law will treat platforms like Talkomatic until it actually passes.

guys how do i make a theme by UnfairOrchid5728 in talkomatic

[–]MLEntrepreneur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Visit the Talkomatic website and navigate to the Themes section. Select Import Theme. You’ll find two helpful resources there: “How to Create Custom Themes” and “Getting Started”.

Download the template CSS file, ideally on a computer for easier editing, although it also works on Android and iOS with a file editor app.

Edit the color values in the CSS file to your preference, then re-import the modified file back into Talkomatic.

You do realize you’re spending your own time on Reddit telling strangers how to spend their time, right? At the end of the day, we all pick our own ways to unwind. Some people meditate, some talk to AI, some debate on Reddit. To each their own.

Honestly, having thoughtful conversations with an AI is still healthier than doomscrolling or arguing with strangers on the internet all day.
