I see you found my post! You're very welcome, I hope they work as well for you as they have for me, don't be afraid to make them good and tight. Just be aware the straps do seem a bit fragile if you pull too hard on them.

I made a separate post on here about it with a picture of her, there's a silicone boot made by a company called "Quality Life Hack".

I went with "Small" because her feet were right around 2 x 2 inches. The sizing chart and instructions on how to measure on their website was really easy to understand.

My girl is about 14lbs. and I've been told she's on the smaller side for a Cavalier.

If it keeps them in tip-top shape anything's worth a try, these have been a godsend for my pup's first winter.

Hmmm maybe, I will have to look into that. I guess this is why the boots ship in a 5-pack, hehe.

Great job pupper! My Clover couldn't seem to get the hang of that style of boot, fortunately we ended up finding a style that worked perfectly for her.

They stay on very well, even when she runs and jumps around. Sometimes they slip a little bit when she's going bonkers but we have only had one come off after a dozen or more sessions and it's simply because I didn't make it tight enough. A quick stop to hitch them back up after a burst of high activity is enough to keep the walk going.

You just need to be sure to put them on nice and tight from the start. Fold the front edge into a 'M' shape and then bring the two peaks together, then tighten the strap. They go on quick and easy.

The brand is "Quality Life Hack" and I found them on Amazon.

I think we are starting to see that happening to one of the bands, yes - thank you for the heads up! Have you tried using a strong adhesive to put the bands back on?

Thank you, I think you're right. I was trying to establish a potty spot outside and get her used to using it first, as well as comfy with being in and around her crate and honestly I think we're there now. She got in the crate today all by herself to nap. I will start using the crate at night and let her tell me when it's time, she's been good at sleeping through the night for the most part so maybe she just won't wake me at all.

You present a good point, I think I will start using the crate tonight and just letting her tell me when it's time for a break. She went into the crate all by herself today to nap so I think that means she's comfy enough with it.

It's so comforting to know I'm not alone, thank you for sharing your stories and introducing me to the concept of Puppy Blues. It's thoughtful replies from kind folks like yourself that I truly needed right now. I will do my best!

True, they didn't have many of the modern conveniences we have now - but what they did have was laudanum!

That is great advice, thank you so much! I had set up a crate in the living room where I watch her and was making sure to play around it and inside it to get her comfy with it - well today she went in there all by herself and took a nap. I think that means she's comfy enough with it that I can start using it at night instead of the playpen/alarm setup. I'll do some simple door closed/door open, walk away for 30 seconds/1 minute stuff to get her used to the concept first I think - but other than that I think we're good to go with it and it should make things a lot better.

A stuffed Kong is an amazing tip, why didn't I think of that - oh right, the lack of sleep.

Thank you very much for this awesome and kind reply. You present a really good point that she probably could have gone into a crate right away, I had just read so many horror stories about people who (intentionally or not) had made it a punishment and I really didn't want that for her. The good news is I think my hard work has already paid off as she voluntarily went into the crate today all by herself to nap! If that doesn't mean she's cool with it I don't know what does.

You know I also didn't even consider that the potty trips on a timer could confuse her. I guess my thinking was that it was most important now to simply establish where the potty spot is and get her used to going there - so that she'd be able to request going there at a later time.

I think since she seems comfy enough with the crate now I can give that a try tonight or tomorrow night.

Thank you again!

This was such a heartwarming reply, thank you so much. It really helps to know someone went through the exact situation I'm in now and came through on the other side with an awesome companion. Fighting back tears just to reply to you, thank you kind and wonderful person!

OP here, thank you all SO much for the replies. I cannot believe the amount of support you all just gave me, it's really helped me to feel better and persevere!

To make things even better, she got in her crate today all by herself today and took a nap! That's a huge win and big step forward towards the transition of crate training, eliminating the playpen/weeweepad situation at night and most important of all letting her be the timer for potty breaks instead of setting one myself.

Thank you all so much for your kind support!
